Is that vacant lot to the east of One Park Tower owned by Daniels? If so, any idea what's happening with it? You'd think they would have started building something right after Limelight.

Yes it is. Two towers (40ish), townhouses and retail along Living Arts Drive. They will probably get to it when they are done with their Erin Mills project.

Without a doubt, the Eglinton LRT (or even the Bloor line) should have been extended to Square One. They are extending the Spadina line into Vaughan where the population is approximately 300,000 yet they aren't even considering extending a line to Mississauga where there is a population of more than 800,000. Such an extension would remove a lot of traffic from the 401 and the QEW but doesn't seem to matter to the planners.

The reason the Spadina line is being extended to Vaughan is because the line's planned extension to York U was already pointed towards it. VMC isn't much farther (and was just getting started as the line was advanced in its planning so the city was exited about it) so it wasn't that big a deal to extend it the extra 2 km. The planets aligned in VMC's case.

The planet that aligned was Greg Sorbara, MPP for Vaughan and Minister of Finance at the time the extension was green-lighted.

And York region fronted up their cash for it too.

Probably the biggest difference is that it cost $500 million to extend it to Vaughan.. It would cost $4-5 billion to bring it to square one. A big difference in bills there.

I had not realized the price difference was that dramatic but no doubt that is a major factor.

It is unfortunate that Mississauga is considering a BRT along dundas, perhaps extending the bloor subway out to Hurontario and thereby connecting with the LRT up to MCC would be ideal... I understand the ridership numbers don't really support a subway at the bottom of Mississauga at this time but perhaps the connection to the LRT makes it worthwhile? Additionally we are talking about a 10 year type timeframe that will change things in the mean time as well...

It's Metrolinx pushing BRT on Dundas so its a continues line to Burlington. East of Hurontario can support an LRT from Day one while the west will only support an BRT for the next 2-4 decades or when it's redevelope.

At Dec budget meeting, I recommend an Tram-Train on the Milton Line that would exit the line before Hurontario and connect with the Hurontario LRT to Sq One. This would offer direct service between Sq One and Union Station. Need to get Transportation Canada to allow this as well getting Metrolinx to electrify this section of the line. Cost to do this is between $50 to $200 Million depending what land will be require for the connection for it as well modifying the Hurontario LRV's to be a tram-train. Does not include the cost of electrifying the line from Cooksville to the Junction.

I believe the EA for Dundas in Mississauga is to get underway this year and will be a number of years before Oakville start one. Oakville doing land use EA at this time.

As for a subway, 50-100 years down the road once the city decides to change the blight land use east of Dixie Rd as well up to Hurontario to high density that will support it. Then, the whole block of Sq One need to be torn down and built a new mall on 1/5 of it as well having development on top of it. The area can support 3-400,000 living and working there including having schools and community centre there as well. 500 stores for the mall.

Another option is having the Milton Line going underground using DD equipment to Sq One and then continue across the 403 and reconnect to the Milton Line. This way you could run service from both end to Sq One either full service or Sq One to Milton every X time and 15 minutes from/to Sq One to/from Union

Jan 31 and more up on site.
The rest of the main level of Hudson's Bay that wasn't finish before December is underway now. The other floors will follow this year that were partly done in 2015 or not at all.

The Westside Court Area is a lot brighter with the ceiling in place and not painted as well the new windows.

Current signs are saying the new area is to open in the spring, not the summer first posted.

Harry Rosen new location is next to the new south entrance. I am assuming once they have relocated, the existing store will allow the long over due conversion of the vacant area next to it

March will see a number of new and relocated stores to the new south expansion. Simon will open in March as well.

A few other will open later this summer.

BCBG will relocate to the new section and allowing someone to take over their location including the new section that open last fall that is boarded up at this time.

Wood Material being added to the columns in the Westside area.

Bricks being place on the Holt corridor wall.

The underground parking should open at the same time.

Next expansion will deal with the theater and the Target Store

We get our first view on the inside of the south expansion. The walls must have come down on the weekend as they were still up last week.

March 5 will see the opening of a Toyota Car showroom on the top floor of the old Target Store.

Starbucks could be open by this weekend as they were setting thing up in the store today as well Club Monaco. A fair number to open over time. No date yet for Simons.

Still work to be still done in the expansion as well the underground parking that is open now. More up on site

With stone floors, high ceilings, clerestory windows, white walls and sleek modern storefronts, the south expansion looks remarkably similar to the Sherway Gardens expansion. It's a solid design, but the malls should have more character.

The south expansion has a striking resemblance to Yorkdale IMO
