One of the 2 south parking lot is open again with the other waiting to open. All lots and most roads have their strips down except the north south road and part of Princess Royal. Traffic lights have been relocated to the new main entrance.

Most of the railing is in place around the smaller floor opening in the west side court area with out the top railing and hording has been removed around it.

The new ceiling lights are in place with a few of the older style still in place.

I expect to see all the roads open this month once the exterior is more finish as well for the Christmas shopping. Some still has to do with the landscaping at this time.

Does anyone know what Square One is going to do to the West Side of the mall where Zellers/Target and the Movie Theatre were?

I think it's pretty clear from looking at these aerial shots (which are impressive) that without some heavy rail connectivity with the GTA, MCC is never going to achieve its supposed objective of becoming a vibrant urban centre. It desperately needs office space and some legitimate attractions besides a shopping mall. How is that Vaughan and Markham are leapfrogging past Mississauga in this regard--getting subway extensions and planning for NHL arenas? There seems to be a lack of vision and civic gumption to move things forward in a dramatic way--case in point, the LRT which will connect Missy with...itself. Smh at the suburban myopia on display here.

The mall extension, however, does look quite nice for what it is.

If subway extensions were a path to becoming vibrant communities, Sheppard wouldn't be the hell hole it is today.

As for pipe-dream NHL stadiums... what a waste of time and money and effort. It didn't and isn't going to happen.

The fact that MCC has become what it is today, without a subway extension or NHL arena is a good sign. It will become a vibrant urban centre, and is getting closer to that reality every day. It already has more to do than shopping, and already has more office space than Vaughan or Markham Centre. It also has the Living Arts Centre, Sheridan College, a few night clubs/bars, restaurants, a large and well programmed urban square, many parks, and a large mall as you mentioned.

I'd say it has done all the leap-frogging, not the other way around.

Dec 02
All the closed roads on the south side are to be open this weekend including the old theater lot. 99% of landscaping done.

The south-west parking lot is still the only area to be finish and that will be spring 2016.

Entrance 5 will reopen as well with the new escalators from the lower level of Holt's and been block off from the construction area.

Signs are posted in the driveways and lots that there a maximum of 4 hours parking for the mall. People who have parked in the south lots and worked or visit 201 & 205 City Centre are doing their free thing parking in the lots and getting ti.

The exterior work should be finish in a week or two and starting to work on the last area to be brick by the new entrance.

All the scaffolding has been removed from the new west court windows from the roof.

Can't see a subway to Sq One until 2050 or later. Did recommend on Dec 1 at the Transit Budget hearing that a Tram-Train connection be built off the Milton Line to the Hurontario LRT so Tram-Trains could run to/from Sq One to Union

Next thing to happen what to do with the old Theater and Target areas as well the areas that were to be fill end over a year ago.

How is that Vaughan and Markham are leapfrogging past Mississauga in this regard--getting subway extensions and planning for NHL arenas?

In Vaughan's case, it was a clean slate geographically, and so council located it just north where a subway extension was planned to head already. As for Markham's arena plan, that was a whim and has now been cancelled.

Downtown Mississauga really should have been located at Hurontario and Dundas.

Agree! That area would have made a more NYCC-style centre and Dundas could have been intensified to the east and west, while Burnhamthorpe is nothing but backlotted homes outside the City Centre.

There is a Master Plan Redevelopment for 5 & 10 just starting with it next meeting Jan 28.

The Ward Councilor stills sees 5 & 10 as the downtown which was plan for when Mississauga was created. I don't see Sq One being a DT until you deal with the white elephant of the mall. The mall needs to shrink to something like Eaton's Centre with about 500 stores with development on top of it.

I did a plan for that whole Mall area that saw 300-400,000 living and working there with schools and all the other items to make it walkable as well live-work-play under one roof. A city within a city.

I've been hearing rumblings. Once this expansion is done. There will be another on the target and theatre side.
The mall will continue to sprawl outward.
