Yeah, no one really gets the help they need a lot of the time. 3 month wait for a psychiatrist because I didn't actually try to kill myself. It's a joke. By the time I made it there I was fine and went for like three sessions at which time I was told I had all the answers and didn't need his help. Well, yeah, I had to fix my damn self. Not everyone is capable of doing that.
I taught myself CBT, self-medicated, meditated, turned everything into a joke, and just got on with it. I was lucky.

I was struck by your comments. It's amazing you made it through, sincere respect. I have a question. Is it possible the state of health you're achieved - entirely on your own - is durable because you got there with zero help? Many would not have overcome, you did. You must have a sense deep down that you can defeat adversity, no matter what?

Maybe now you're 'ANTI-fragile' (referring to most important book written the last 10 years by Nasim Taleb). Antifragile is beyond resilient, where stressors actually benefit. Most of the content, stable people you meet are fragile, they have been fortunate not to wall a hit.

Your weakness now is simply your taste in music, but that is for another day :)

White people? Drug use is pretty much colour blind, I'd think.

As for weed, I wonder if the legalization will have a economic detriment to the traditional street dealer.

I think we know who dies, young black men. And we know that racialised in this context means black. But admitting what we already know doesn't bring us closer to a solution.

Cigarettes are a legal product so I am sure that there are no illegal cigarettes on the streets. Why would anyone get involved in illegal cigarettes when the public can buy them at a store.
 
I know this is going to sound insensitive, but so long as these gangbangers are knocking each other off I have no problem with these shootings

Seriously? The news feeds are full of arrests of persons caught with thousands and thousands of illegal ('no tax stamp') smokes. mainly from FN in the Cornwall and Montreal area.

Actually, not all FN cigarettes are illegal. Many are produced under a First Nations licence issued by the government. In Ontario, most, but not all, come from Six Nations near Brantford (Grand River Enterprises).

It’s the collateral innocent bystanders that I think we’re collectively more worried about.

I wish we could put all the gangstas in one place without bystanders where they’d finish each other off. Hmm.... sounds like a good action sci-fi pic.

As for tomorrow’s ganstas, a good fix is targeted community sex ed, free access to birth control and education/employing for young women, thus avoiding the otherwise natural regeneration of the gangsta population.

Or free gun telescopes and laser pointers for all gangbangers, that way they'll hopefully hit their targets more frequently

Definitely is durable and real because I achieved it on my own (well, with a bit of help from MDMA and psilocybin, which basically worked as aids to self-reflection and self-acceptance).
I'm not sure about being able to overcome any adversity. Maybe. I definitely think I can be pretty stoic now in the face of bollocks in my life. I don't let things stress me out anymore and I try not to take anything too seriously. Life's a beautiful little joke, really, if you examine it closely enough.

People can be defeatist. If I can do it, then a lot of others can as well, but they don't even bother trying. I wouldn't say that stressors benefit me, though I may just be unaware of any derived benefit or what the lack thereof would be.

THIS is what I've been on about.
Kill the war on drugs and you kill the shooting problem. Simple solution, though people will LIE and say legalisation of all drugs is going to cause more problems than it solves.

Again, those targets could be citizens trying to testify or give info to police or a parent trying to bring their kid out of a gang. This assumption that the intended victims of gangstas are for the most part other evil folks is IMO inaccurate.
