Yes. Both the tower and midrise above the dealerships have gone into sales. One of the other buildings is going to be a rental, from my understanding.

Is it just me, or does it feel like this building is taking forever to bring down despite it being a fairly simple structure?

Or is it all the reinforcement that's making it slow?

I'm guessing it's because it is built like a tank. I wonder why it's like that though, from the outside it looked like a typical steel and precast warehouse structure. Demolition has proved that obviously isn't true, all the steel is seemingly unnecessarily encased in concrete.

It's a large building and they are probably in no rush to tear it down. Bigger equipment means more money and less can be salvaged.

Shoring and removal of containment soil is underway. Construction may not immediately follow.

I believe that structure will be used as part of the development and will not be demo'd.

"The proposed development for 77-79 East Don Roadway (Phase 1) includes three mixed-use buildings and will require the demolition of the existing building at 79 East Don Roadway but will included the adaptive re-use of the existing storage warehouse at 77 East Don Roadway"

I was down in that area yesterday—and it already feels very different with the changes going on there, specifically that it's no longer oppressive now that the overwhelming concrete walls are gone.

Which building is this in the Riverside Square site map (http://www.riversidesquarecondo.ca/resources/SITEPLAN.jpg.opt800x666o0,0s800x666.jpg) Is this the construction for the "city collection" building or the "future residential" that's just south of it?

That would be the Future Residential site to the south, which will have a number of car dealerships below the condos. This isn't construction so much at this point as it is demolition.

Does anyone know if this site (or what is now the site) was directly affected when we had those particularly bad floods a few years back?

I don't believe it was — the land here is reasonably high compared to some property up by Dundas, south of Eastern, or beside the Bayview Extension on the other side of the Don.
