Toronto Queens Quay & Water's Edge Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Could easily squeeze beside him. If the door just so happens to leave a mark ... well ... perhaps he should have parked inside the lines, eh?

Another thing about Mr. Hakim. He calls himself Sir Hakim like he's been knighted, but he hasn't, he just has the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal along with 60,000 other Canadians. He's not a sir!

He is a bonafide rags-to-riches stories so you have to respect that, but he's a jerk now that he's old and rich.

The City of Toronto Automated Public Toilet on the northwest corner of Rees and Queen's Quay has reopened--it was definitely still closed as of the start of this week, so probably reopened yesterday or today. I'd never used it before the revitalization, used it for the first time today (costs 25 cents), it was pretty cool.

25 cents is a pretty good price, as long as it's clean. I was just in Europe. In Stockholm, washrooms were Kr 10 (about $1.50) and usually not terribly clean. In the Baltics (E 0.20) and Poland (Zl 1), both around 30-35 cents, they were much cleaner. I have no problem with paying if the washrooms are clean and well maintained; it's rather moot here since they've decided not to roll these out any further.

TTC service alert: "509 Harbourfront and 510 Spadina service turning back at Queens Quay Loop due to a collision at Queens Quay and Lower Simcoe." Was in effect from 8:55 PM to 9:09 PM. Anyone have details?

If he'd really been knighted he would have been briefed on the use of the title, which includes placing 'Sir' before one's given name, not the surname, i.e., Sir Karim Hakimi -> Sir Karim, NOT 'Sir Hakim(i)'.

Oh, and it's not one of those knighthoods given out by the Queen, apparently: http://lawstudents.ca/forums/topic/32468-knighthoods/

For those of you curious about the QQ Spadina Footbridge, here is the design update from back in 2009:

Took me awhile to dig it up from the WT library. It wasn't labelled by the most obvious subject heading. Anyways, WT should definitely push this and the boardwalk as a priority.
