Toronto One Bloor East | 257.24m | 76s | Great Gulf | Hariri Pontarini

In post #1386 of the 88 Scott street thread there is a photo of "The Berczy" in which we can see the dark balcony glass. Imho this type of glass would have looked far superior to the
"Fruit of the Loom" white underwear they're putting on here. The shadow Canadian Chocho mentions looks to me more like the reflection of the blue glass of the building and that is why quite often when walking up Yonge one can't see the balcony effect at all. I still like the building but it's just a giant blue Phallus. Sorry.

Oh come on, you're not sorry. You had fun with that "giant blue Phallus" crack (is Phallus some obscure Greek god I haven't heard about?)... but really, Fruit of the Loom? You seem to be bent on denigrating this building.

One Bloor looks incredibly slim all the way down Yonge Streeet in either direction. Hard to believe this current iteration was originally proposed at 65 stories, then up to 70, before its eventual 76. It's like taking away the currently clad balcony levels, once or twice, depending on which version you are looking at. It would have looked much stockier in either case and I think the design benefits as a whole.

There are masculine and feminine elements in the architecture. It's tall and has the proportions of a basic glass box, which is masculine. However, the curved features are decidedly feminine--particularly the curving vertical lines.

In the end, it's a building. Its gender is irrelevant. If it functions as it should and it's eye pleasing, the architects have done their jobs.

At sunset…

I wonder when there going to start covering the balcony with permanent fence finishing? It's going to look sharp!

And a few more from the weekend.

(I suppose we're all posting more or less the same photos at this point, but it's just a really exciting building!)
