The West Transitway is pretty terrible. The stations are set far back from the streets, the buses spend an eternity circling on and off of highway ramps, and there are virtually no connections to the local buses.
The East Transitway is amazing.
Welcome to "Car City", a city built for cars with no thought of Transit, Cycles and most of all, "Pedestrian". Peel Transit was voted down when Peel was form.
What the TransitWay was to look like back in the 80's, 90's and the EA 2004, is only haft of what it was supposed to be. NIMBY and the rising cost of the full TransitWay is what we are left with of the 2004 EA plan.
There is supposed to be a north service Rd between 403 and Mavis Rd along the 403 with the TransitWay up to Duke of York and then tunnel to the city core.
You may live long enough to see "ALL" the missing links built as well into Halton and Toronto. It was plan for in the 70's and taken almost 45 years to built the 1st section.
Starting in 2017 when it finally fully open, all MT bus routes will service these station including 110 that they currently run past these days. Route 100 will not start service until 2018 due to funding issues.
Ridgeway was supposed to be the last west station with flyover to the 403 and has been removed from the plan. I stand to be corrected, but the parking lots were to be smaller than what there now.
There were to be walkways to the streets north of the station for both cycles and pedestrians, but none I have seen so far.
This is what you get for building in Hydro Corridors that people keep saying that should be built there in the first place. The wrong way.
