A friend is renting in this building. He has been there since July 2015, and the building is still not done inside. Hallways don't have carpet, walls don't have paint/wallpaper. The gym is done but is not open to residents yet. Is this normal?

I have friends in Theatre Park. They moved in in December 2014, and the amenities were still opening up in the Fall of 2015. The diagonal bands on the exterior of that building are still be adjusted. Those are a unique feature of Theatre Park, but in general, few buildings open with everything done. Some developers (Concert for example) do pride themselves on getting everything ready for the first occupancies, registration included.

It's normal but it's not right. It creates a lot of unnecessary stress for residents; and a horrible first impression that is next to impossible to recover from. Having over 100 visits into your new condo unit over the course of a year to fix things is also unacceptable.

Hopefully this is changed one day in the Condo Act. Companies that care about their customers do try and complete most things, like Tridel and Daniels too. Smaller developers don't seem to give a crap and do the bare minimum to get occupancy permits, like Urban Capital and BJL. These developers only care about one thing rather than trying to develop a life-long relationship and a loyal customer base.

I hope this is the correct thread. Two photos, one of the west end of the site, which corresponds to Phase 2 of Liberty Central by the Lake(51 East Liberty), and one on the east side of the site, corresponding to the future 14 Strachan building. For those into nostalgia - 51 East Liberty is where the eastern portion of the old Inglis washing machine manufacturing plant used to be, while 14 Strachan was the former Inglis Head Office and Data Centre facilities - now located in Mississauga, at the corner of Mississauga Road and Highway 401.

The first photo shows some site preparation equipment at the western edge of the property - there is also an excavator (not shown in the photo) further to the south, close to the railway tracks.

The second photo shows excavating equipment which is now removing the mound of earth that was piled up along the eastern edge of the property, bordering on Strachan.
