Indeed. And there's still a lot of digging left to do, if only to remove the ramp. But I guess it's harder to get a crane in after you take the ramp out, isn't it.

You can do it without the ramp (1 King had no ramp). You just need the crane to be close enough to the street so that a portable crane can do all the heavy lifting.

I don't know. I saw a truck with crane parts on it after the crane I saw was finished, and there do seem to be multiple bases.
