Though I agree that contractors should remove their signs, you could put in a 311 request.
Oh I do. And they're marked as completed or closed (though I can't see which in the email). I will file some new requests though because that last one has been there since May!

If you've on Twitter/X ..... consider posting that, and tagging the Mayor and applicable councillor. Note the previously filed 311 request as well.

Shame doesn't work as well as it used to..........but sometimes....

Is anyone else frustrated by the steady increase in abandoned construction materials and signage on sidewalks and curbs? There are the obvious ones where the date of a detour on the sign has long passed, but then other places where there are just traffic cones being stored on the sidewalk with no visible work being carried out? Is it just a quality of work situation, where the people who worked on it don't care to follow up and take their materials with them once the work is done?

Some examples from my walk, these have been here at least 3 months:

There was one of those giant orange signs on Richmond Street with the merge right arrow marking a lane closure left for months after the watermain construction work finished last year.
It was blocking the whole left lane and causing major car delays as they merged in and out around it.
I reported it to 311 and after about three weeks they taped a bylaw violation notice on to the sign, though still didn't move it out of the way!
Then about one week later it disappeared.
