I don't see why Tory would do so at this point in time. Why not just let her fade away? Her 4% is not packing a lot of bargaining power.

It should be remembered that anything that has to do with computers, including twitter or the internet or urbantoronto.ca, is done through an intermediary. Rob Ford seems to be computer illiterate, unless he uses a couple of the apps on his smartphone. Which means its "censured" by his staff. Anything of interest has to be printed out for Rob on paper.

Look at this image from his pulled campaign video, showing him returning phone calls. His list of phone numbers are handwritten, while his computer monitor is off. Several photographs are taped to the monitor.

Not a very "efficient" use of available resources.

Odds are this election will be won by a margin of less than 4%. If/When Stintz and Soknacki fall off at the end, Chow and Tory will need to fight for >50% of the freed-up votes. Tory has a higher approval rating and 2nd vote preference so they are his to lose.

I don't want to indulge in any conspiracy theories, but something funny definitely went down there. There's a world of difference between Stintz foolishly hanging onto her self-delusion that she can attract Ford's rabid fanbase and turning into his bestest buddy ever.

Yeah something definitely went down in RoFo's office that afternoon. I'd love to have been a fly on the wall. Hopefully the full story will come out eventually.

The polls seem to reflect Tory has momentum right now. He shud ride it for another month and see if it is maintained. The time to deal would be late Sept/early Oct. By that time he might be so far ahead he might not need to.

Yeah but love divides, and hate unites. Not everyone can love, but everyone can sure hate, whether it's hating the gravy train, downtown latte sippers, gay autistic cyclists. So Rodofo is a great uniter of people in that sense. He really is like a white MLK if you think about it. Who the heck wants to be speaker? It doesn't really seem like an enticing position to offer. Deputy Mayor, a seat on the executive committee, yes. But speaker? No thanks.

Yes, it seems like a very thankless job that involves actually paying attention to the 'debates" in Council. Frances Nunziata is not a good Speaker as she is so partisan but John Parker (her Deputy) seems much better and more able to calm things down.
