stintz seems to be going after the people who initially voted for Ford, so maybe they think if she drops out they can get those people back on their side. It's dumb, but they're dumb, so...

Just to add - she may be going after Ford 2010 voters, but (1) the ones she is going after are those least likely to revert to the proofund error of trusting Ford and (2) if the polls mean anything she is not catching very many of them.

IIRC, Rofo/Dofo threatened to start naming councillors who abuse alcohol or use illicit drugs. Perhpas they are going to start with Stinz. Their goal may be to get back the supporter list that a former employee (likely Beyer) gave to Stinz.

I would REALLY like to know what is up with this Stintz thing. The Fords have been getting sloppier by the minute, but they never seem to self-inflict a fatal wound. What if this were it, finally???

The timing of the conch shell thing and the Stintz-rattled-after-the-meeting-with-Ford thing is a bit spooky.

My Stintz guess is that the cops, who were there yesterday, day before (?), discovered that she had indeed stolen the "list".

I had an alternate theory. The first thing that popped into my head was this -- and I'm going to be vague, because I would HATE to spread any kind of BS rumour, or perpetuate it. Once, when the whole RoFo crackstory started and I started following people randomly on twitter to stay up to date, I saw someone -and I have no idea who -- level an allegation about an inappropriate relationship at one of her staffers and her. It was later deleted.

That came to mind immediately upon reading this. Blackmail to drop out + endorsement? I dunno.

It's all so awful.

I am inclined to suspect that scenario as well. And also, don't forget the mailing list kerfuffle.

Whatever he said to her must have involved some kind of threat. Nothing else explains why she'd be so visibly upset upon leaving. Keep in mind that Rofo is genuinely a violent, unstable thug, and is as mean as a snake to boot. That's not hyperbole.

Even if there's some rationale behind threatening her - which could surely backfire in a major way if Stintz elects to show some spine and actually push back this time - I don't doubt that Slob's in a very unhappy place right now, and is probably more than willing to spread the misery. He and Dofo appear to lashing out at random right now. I'd be willing to bet money they intend to take as many people down with them as they can.

Though if she is smart, she would have walked into the lair with a recorder. And private matter? Are you kidding me? You pen an response in the paper one day and now claim it is private?
