Rob Ford's Toronto

Why the constant Twitter dumps here? If I wanted to follow the Rob Ford topic on Twitter I would.

Some of it's funny? It can actually be kind of helpful? Some don't/won't do 'The Twitters'? Those that do, and can't stomach the #topoli thread. might get its 'hi-lite reel' as opposed to its dreck? (Used to try following #topoli. Figured out it's an open tap of many, many toxic personalities. Unreadable.). And, plus, oh, relevant info and links to the ongoing 'Chronicles Of Ford'. Why is it offensive?

r/toronto has some good thoughts, too (Though there seems to be a shunning of that by some).

TL/DR?: Useful/Humorous/'Breaking/.

http://o.canada.com/news/national/den-tandt-as-media-we-struggle-with-our-rob-ford-addiction
Den Tandt: As media, we struggle with our Rob Ford addiction

Here’s what we’ve discovered, so far, from Rob Ford’s comeback: We in the media still adore him. That’s not to say we feel affection or regard for the man; the opposite is mainly true. But we love writing and talking about him. It’s a mania we have. Some might call it a disease. After two months of abstinence, cold turkey, no methadone, our fall off the wagon has been brutally swift.
...
But of course none of this is a surprise, or should be. The story in its totality came into perfect focus in May of 2013, on the day Ford denied being a crack addict, but did not deny having previously used the drug. Every beat of media shock since has had an element of artifice. What’s odd is that we keep pretending any of it is new. Rob Ford is a confessed serial liar and that is not a disease, but a choice. Therefore he is unfit for public office. Yet he still may get re-elected, because he uses political techniques that work in 2014.

the part i bolded pisses me off. if you are media and you took a 2 month break while rob was in "rehab" then you are not doing your job!!! we didn't take a break, and look at the things we learned... and there's still so much more we don't know. say a reporter proved that rob didn't stay at greenestone the whole time, or that he was having lisi run errands for him, etc., then i think at least some of the remaining ford nationals would expatriate themselves.

according to a french cbc article, bob marier is originally from montreal... does that help figure it out?

here's the article: http://m.radio-canada.ca/regions/ontario/2014/07/04/016-ford-coach-sobriete.shtml

it also mentions that it's a paid position.

i think this might be rob's sober coach...

Ignore or Engage? The Rob Ford Conundrum

While Rob’s admission that he’s tried every drug you could ever think of (in an interview with the CBC earlier this week) sparked unsurprising headlines across the country, and made people question what Rob Ford is like on mushrooms, the deeper issue of corruption and abuse of his position as Toronto’s supreme leader is a more relevant, and underreported angle.

[...]

Rob Ford is still, somehow, the mayor of Canada’s largest city, and the readership of the big Canadian media outlets have an obvious interest in keeping up to date with his latest gaffes, fuck-ups, and catastrophes. And yet, there is a small movement called FIRM (Ford Idiocy Resistance Movement), coined by Andrew Mitrovica for iPolitics, which strives to ignore Rob Ford regardless.

FIRM’s 41-point manifesto has such directives as: “We will not give a damn about anything the Fords say or do—unless, of course, they’re in handcuffs being escorted into a police cruiser,†“We will not believe anyone in or outside the media who utters these silly words: ‘Rob looks like a changed man.’ or ‘Rob’s ready to go back to work,’†and “We will not use the term ‘Ford Nation’ ever again.â€

While such a philosophy is certainly tempting—especially since the thought of how much nonsense Robbie can potentially spew between now and the October election is dizzying—Rob Ford has an uncanny ability to vacuum the media's attention into his bulbous orbit. The man has only been back at work for a few days, and he's already attracted the very public ire of an angry, shirtless man, who in turn became a national news story, which deflected the root of the shirtless man’s rant into a meme about shirtlessness itself.

Rob Ford is highly skilled at the martial art of being a media-manipulator savant. That’s a gift. And such a gift is hard to avoid noticing.

So if ignoring him isn't reasonable, then the hard questions should be asked continuously until the guy either resigns or gets voted out in October. Toronto deserves better than a racist crack-smoker who can’t be bothered to discuss his hateful rants, his association with criminals, his impact on Toronto’s Dixon neighbourhood, and so on.

But, if he does manage to win another election, then I’ll be voting for the Shirtless Jogger in 2018! Because Toronto’s had to deal with mayors who wear shirts for far too long.

That is the category of work translated in French. Like when you are looking under the yellow pages.
This guy is a tai chi instructor.

The CBC has a picture of the sober coach and he is much older. I am not sure if the sober coach and this Michael Marier are related but I am still trying to search things out.

I think everyone on this thread has worked to build a very successful and respectful community over the last few years. Someone here said, "Think of what Rob Ford would do, and then do the opposite".

If you still support Rob Ford, then this is definitely not the place for you. It would be difficult to have this Ford conversation without Twitter as it provides some of the links and factual content we discuss. The high volume of eyeballs on this thread tells you that something is working right.

If Michael is the same one from the articles, then he has ties to the music entertainment club scene in Toronto. DJ Marc Oliver from The Grid article now works at Guvernment which is owned by Charles Khabouth ( Ink Entertainment) he has had dealings with the city. It seems that Khabouth had interest in the meeting about Muzik

Siege mentality has gone def-con 4. Expect rants about fluoride and precious bodily fluids soon. Followed by riding the top of a subway into the abyss, yee-hawin' and cowboy hat wavin' the whole way.

(One-Time Calgarian, here. Not only is it a fine city, but as their Petrocracy currently rules the nation, you are to be reminded that Stampede begins today. You will celebrate. Now. Pancakes for all! :))

it also mentions that it's a paid position.

It says that bob was a former addict that is known for helping many high profile people. It doesn't really say what his qualifications are specifically. Just that he has personal experience with substance abuse.

Seems that Cynthia had to lead Doug into an apology, she asked leading questions until he thought better of it and apologized to make it stop. I think he truly doesn't get why what he said was inappropriate. I also think if he apologizes to the Dad, in his mind he would look foolish.
