Rob Ford's Toronto

I agree Tory is a complete sap and I cannot understand why anyone would consider him a formidable Mayoral candidate. As for being a good CEO he only got the job at Rogers because Ted Rogers was a very close friend of the family. If he was any good at running a company he would have moved on to the helm of another major company after he left Rogers instead of doing a radio show on CFRB alongside a bunch of other flunkies. It seems that Tory fails at just about everything he attempts. He started out as a lawyer at his family's prestigious Bay street law firm but that didn't last very long and of course he was a four time loser in politics.

Notwithstanding his track record, he's a "formidable" candidate based solely on the things you outlined, his money and more importantly his connections.

Former members of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s staff suspected he was doing a variety of drugs, including lines of cocaine and OxyContin, and drinking at city hall, in public and in his car, as well as spending time with escorts, spewing verbal abuse and assaulting female staff, according to evidence collected in a police investigation released Wednesday.

And so, and so, kids, now that the day is done and the most damaging revelations possible have come out, short of murder, do any of you still think Ford could win again. Please tell.

I was wondering just before the election three years how anyone could vote this fucker in. I guaranteed he'd be over his head. He is. And he's outta control.

The fact is that voters (from outer Toronto) put 300+ pounds of bat shit into the mayor's office. Really. And most of us wonder how that happened, still.

This shit is so crazy. Fodder for a bad movie. Coming soon I'm sure. Oh crap what a day.

Did you notice this in the article:

On the day the crack video allegations surfaced, Mr. Ransom, then special assistant of communications to Mr. Ford, recalled asking their boss point blank if the video was true, documents read. “Mayor Ford denied it and said that this is not the worst that is going to happen. This is going to blow up and there will be people in bigger trouble than him,” Mr. Ransom said, adding that he did not know at the time what Mayor Ford meant by that comment. He also told police he believed the video existed.

She was flanked by tons of people and it was pretty darn hectic, or I would have asked her how she felt about that. At least she was kind enough to pose :)

I do think people owe her an apology. Her narrative is perfectly consistent with what we've heard and seen in the past few weeks.

A friend of mine was at the protest and did manage to talk to her. She was very gracious and did say that she felt vindicated.

In the past women have come to the office and told staffers that they have smoked a joint with the mayor on the street outside of the bar. These women were told by the mayor that they could have a job,” the police alleged after interviewing Mr. Christopolous.

hahah, jeez

Mr. Fickel said he, too, believes Mr. Ford is an alcoholic and saw him chase a mickey of vodka with Gatorade while he drove them home from a football game.

From Goldsbie:
A couple days after Ford's Bier Markt expedition, I wrote a short thing about it. http://www.thegridto.com/city/politics/the-rob-ford-agenda-march-12–18-2012/ This comment immediately appeared (which was removed by The Grid):

Towhey received a call from Rob Ford ‘sobbing’ the day he learned he was fired as Don Bosco’s football coach.

David Price allegedly “badgered the Mayor to give him a job” and was paid “double… everyone else,” police told.

Former mayor's staffer told police of reports that Mayor Rob Ford did a "bump" off his wrist while at a bar, apparent reference to cocaine.

A couple of questions this raises:

1. Why did the Grid remove it? I thought commenters were liable for their own comments (i.e. the Brian Burke situation) not the sites they appear on

2. Why are we just hearing about it now? Did Goldsbie or anyone else try to track this person down and follow up her claims?

The Fords are threatening the media "Be very careful on what you write". As I said earlier, vocabulary and grammar of a 5 year old.
