Gourmet Burger is expanding to 9 Charles St W (Craft Burger now has a competitor).

Are they good? I'm a fan of Craft.

Gourmet Burger on Parliament makes the best burger I've ever tasted with lots of free premium toppings such as carmelized onions, roasted peppers, mushrooms, avacodo etc. Craft Burger charges $1.25 for EACH of these extra toppings. I have never eaten at Craft Burger and never will because I think their prices are a complete rip off. A fully loaded Burger at Gourmet Burger costs $5.50 whereas the same burger would cost $11.95 at Craft! I would be curious to hear from those who have tried both places. Is Craft Burger really worth TWICE the price???? I hope the new location for Gourmet Burger will have lots of seating. Lack of seating is a big drawback at their Parliament location.

I have eaten at both places - gourmet burger is amazing, craft burger sucks in comparison - they lack in toppings and the quality isnt as good

The new location's at 9 Charles west. Is that where that Indian restaurant used to be? A door or two down from 7 West?

No this is where the Copy shop "Best Copy" used to be. Some may recall that in the wake of 9/11 it was alleged that this copy shop provided forged passports for the 9/11 Terrorists

I was always amazed that they stayed in business so long after 9/11

I don't mind the Spicy something or other burger at Craft, but the rest of their offerings are sort of blah. GBC kicks ass tho, and I'm glad to see another location.

And Poutini's is a letdown. The gravy is so-so and the fries are overdone, tho I have to grant that the curds are very fresh. The menu is also too limited. If you're going to do a poutine restaurant you have to either offer the best classic poutine in the world or you have to offer some interesting varieties (like Smoke's), and Poutini's fails to do either.

GBC are pretty damn tasty , have not tried craft, they would have to be amazing to top GBC, glad to see a local small co doing well rather than some behemoth move in.
