Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

New Brunswick has a population of 747,101. (Mississauga has a population of 721,59.) Yet the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick has 49 seats. See link. Why doesn't New Brunswick reduce their assembly using Doug Ford's excuse of "saving money"?

Respect for taxpayers.

That ain't shit.

Do you know how much sacking the CEO of Hydro One cost us? Four times that! (Not including lost share value)
...and how much scrapping cap-and-trade is costing us? 3B dollars.

2.5M?

Man, that's this fool government's least expensive "cost-saving" move.

Like they say, You need to spend money to spend money.

Lost share value. share price $19.49 on election day. $19.47 now. Wow, that's a big drop of 0.1%.

......true, whilst conveniently ignoring the other sums.

Top job, you'd do well in this government: ignore the elephant in the room, nitpick those figures which work best with your "cost-saving" narrative.

Come on.....I think you're smarter than that...you sell yourself short by blindly supporting this fool government. Or do I have a loftier view of you than even you have of yourself?

You're right. If the provincial goal is to consider things on a 3 month horizon, then Fords policies are bad. If the goal is to make things better over the longer term, then things are looking up.

How is that?

Cancelled contracts engender uncertainty. Bad for business.
Adding billions to the debt costs more long term because of interest. Bad for the taxpayer.

Ford can't efficiently run a label business that was handed to him on a silver platter and you trust him with a financial behemoth?

Maybe I'm wrong about you: such blind ideological adherence is a sign of madness.

Can't wait to hear Tory's response. "The Premier's comments are unacceptable" is incoming.

Ford was a councillor for 4 years and has no clue how things work.

Seems like Ford is 100% correct again.
Really? Then post the section of the Toronto Act and/or any other relevant act that pertains to special sessions.

Calling of meetings
191 Subject to the procedure by-law passed under section 189,

(a) the head of council may at any time call a special meeting; and

(b) upon receipt of a petition of the majority of the members of city council, the clerk shall call a special meeting for the purpose and at the time mentioned in the petition. 2006, c. 11, Sched. A, s. 191.

https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/06c11

What is it that both you and Ford fail to understand about "for the purpose and at the time mentioned in the petition"?

Perhaps we need civic lessons on more than just tying shoelaces?
