Mississauga Dixie Rd/QEW New Interchange (MTO, 1s, AECOM)

The photos show how much the south service road will be shifted south at the mall area as part of the sidewalk is in place for the new QQE off ramp to be built there. This will allow the new QEW Dixie Rd off ramp to be built later this year.

Shoring taking place next to the existing Dixie Rd at the south service road to allow the building of the south pier.

Grading taking place where the northbound road to the south service road used to be to raise that area up for the new lanes as well the temporary connection to the new bypass road while the new Dixie road is being built. The current connection to Dixie will shift north where the new intersection will be as well for the bypass road. It will line up with the new road to the south service road to allow for building the new on ramp to the QEW once the existing bridge is remove late this year.

Once the new bypass is in service, the new south service road will be built by the QEW off/on ramp.

I would say we will see the bridge beams being place come June at this time depending on the south pier being built by then.

Oh no, I use that bridge regularly when cycling, are they putting in a new one?
I stumbled across this article with photos of the demolition process this morning:

I had wanted to photograph it but it was a tad windy that night.

It states a new bridge should be complete by August of this year.

I didn't even realize that pedestrian bridge was gone. :)

Had a look at the interchange today that they are building 2 6x6 box clavier between the existing south Service Rd and under the new roads to Dixie Rd.

Starting at Haig Rd, the South Service Rd shift to the south about 100' to allow the new QEW off ramp road to be built.

Construction of the south pier cannot start to be built until hydro poles, lines and transformer boxes are removed.

They are slowing building the area up where the new East South Service Rd is to go

Wasn't much work taking place.

Work taking place on the south side for the new ramp for the new walkway over the QEW to replace the one that had to be removed.

Photos to follow.

Until the hydro lines, poles and boxes are remove, cannot start building the south bridge pier, let alone grading the area for the new Dixie Road

For those who talk about adding an lane to the QEW shows it's impossible to do without removing the current service road or tear down existing buildings along it,

So then why are they relocating the service road then? And then what's the point of the new bridge over the Credit River beside the original?

Yes partly.

Look above at the MTO map for the interchange to see what is happening to the service roads. You will not be able to get on the QEW east of Dixie like you can today and need to use the on ramp off Dixie for it. The current connection will remain open until the day the new QEW ramp open east bound. You will be using the new road to the service road going east once it open as the current road under the current Dixie will have to be close to built the new on/off connection.

The new Credit bridge was to allow the rebuilding of the existing bridges and allow an extra lane west of it.

There is no service road relocation or extension for the Credit River Bridge other than shifting the QEW lanes north. By rights, there should be bridges built over the Credit River for both service roads, but the NIMBY folks have kill that idea

Mississauga Demean the existing Credit bridge was heritage that only can be seen by canoers of all things and only if you look up going south under it or as you travel north on it. Not a boater and not trails/paths to see it.

Drum. Major activity tonight lifting beams onto the new bridge piers. They appear to be lifting them into position from trucks located on the old bridge. Eastbound traffic was at a walking pace, west bound was free wheeling, so no photos. Sorry.

It would be for the north section over the westbound QEW which is odd with you saying westbound was free wheeling. Unless they have built the south pier in 2 weeks considering what there on April 23, that a fast built and why eastbound was slow going. with the beams going over the eastbound. QEW traffic would had to come to a full stop while a beam was being place on the piers..

What you saw for free wheeling maybe was the release of the backup traffic that was allow to moved after the beam was place.

If the north section saw the beams first, it will allow the forming of the decking and back filling for the north pier to allow grading of the new roads.

Maybe one of the drone folks can get a shot as I will try to get down there Friday or the weekend.

Thanks and what I was expecting. The free flow traffic was traffic being release as it had been stop to the east to allow the beams to be place. Eastbound most likely was down to a single lane for safety reason

You can see at the bottom that no work has yet started on the south pier.

This will allow haft the bridge to be form to allow work on the grading of the new Dixie Rd as well the new on ramp from the south service road.

Once the grading is done along with the new intersection for the on/off ramps for the QEW is in place, they can shift the traffic some what to the east just north of the current Overpass. This will allow work start on the new off ramp to the south service Rd as well the westbound QEW.

Until hydro lines and boxes are remove, can't start building the south pier as well grading for the new Dixie Rd. It doesn't stop grading for the new east service road that will temporary connect to the Dixie bypass that is basely ready to be put into service last year. Once the the east service road is in place, the existing road under the existing overpass can be close off to allow building the eastbound ramp to the QEW.

May 29
Shoring is well underway for the south pier finally.

The new ramp from the North Service Rd to the new Dixie Rd is partly graded.

The entrance to the plaza at the west end from the Service Rd is close with the building of the new intersection as well shifting the service road down that now goes far west as of Alexander now. Curb being pour for the eastbound new Service Rd.

Footing and rebar pillars are in place for the new walkway over the QEW on the southside and waiting forming of the pillars.

The old road from the South Service Rd to Dixie is now close to allow the building of the new alignment with traffic using the ramp off Dixie to the South Service Rd.

South Service Rd is one lane only from Dixie to the QEW ramp being control by traffic lights to allow 2 way traffic on it.

The new creek tunnels are now bury.

I expect we may see beams go up for the southern end bridge around mid July to early Aug, Forming is underway for the north section.

Photos to follow.
