oof on those railings - was there really no way they could resolve that with grading? It looks like the drop is *just* high enough to need a railing system.. seems like a waste.

This will be along the south service road and it's right up to the property line of the mall, so it is maximizing parking lot area. Could they have negotiated a few more metres of property for some nice space for some sodding on a decent slope? Who knows if this was considered several years ago in the property acquisition phase.
The drop looks like it reaches almost a metre, which is quite high compared to a standard 150mm high curb. This sidewalk is about 3m wide and is actually sitting on a toe wall.
Perhaps the mall has their own plans to landscape a buffer between the parking lot and the service road - who knows?

What you are seeing is the new service road being built that is on a slop with handrails, but not as bad as it will be for the QEW off ramp. The new service road will connect to Dixie Road by Burger King and the entrance to the mall.
The QEW eastbound off ramp will connect to Dixie Road north of the current location as well continue east to the new service road on the east side of Dixie as well the new eastbound on ramp to the QEW.
Renderings for the redevelopment of Dixie Mall shows a green belt next to the service road that I have seen, but will it be there when work starts on the mall is unknown at this time.

The bypass is now in service with most of the form for the south pier in place. Need to put the rear form on so it can be pour.
Depending on the forming and pouring of the pier. its possible to see QEW eastbound on detour on the long weekend in Aug.
The North Service Road close until Sept 1 with work taking place for the new road coming off Dixie Rd. The new intersection for the New North Service Road and the Ramp to the QEW has curbs and base asphalt in place as well a number of traffic lights base in place as well.
You can see the new east South Service Road curbs in place, but missing the connect to Dixie at this time as grading is taking place for the new interchange.

More base asphalt in place to the west where the South Service Road is to shift to the south.
New road work in place where it will replace the current connection at Sherway Dr, but not complete yet with base asphalt and curbs.

I saw the transport with one of the beams parked on the QEW Westbound Cawthra off ramp while on my way home from a failed mission to shoot the townhouse demolition project on Lakeshore. Mini3 decided it wouldn't fly because of a stupid RemoteID error

@Tim MacDonald and other Flyer, nighttime shooting tonight as the last 6 beams were arriving at about 7:30 as I was leaving the site by the South Service Rd. 3 end up parking on the service road east of Cawthra Rd, 2 moving south on Cawthra to the service road and the 6th was on the off westbound QEW ramp. Police were escorting the Cawthra ones.
By error end up taking the QEW ramp in place of the North Service Road and had to do a U-turn at Hurontario, Just past the off ramp when the police close the lanes on Cawthra to allow the 6th beam to move onto Cawthra. The cab had to use the sidewalk to make the turn to the point that if those beams were another 10 feet long, traffic lights would had to be remove,
Drove by the site on Tue and the pier looked like it been strip and ready for installing the beam sooner than I thought. I guess they want the bridge in operation by the fall
The road off Dixie to the North Service Road is graded with no curbs, but parts of 2 sidewalks in place. Steel beams being place for the sound barrier. Most of the backfilling for the new road on the southside is in place waiting for unities ,
The first haft of the bridge ready for pouring.
A lot of the new South Service Road graded and waiting for paving with various areas already pave with the base in place.

Was told late fall for opening of the new bridge depending on the weather and building the south road for it.

I saw a bunch of beams like these going southbound on the 400 yesterday - I bet they were going here.

2nd Video from last night just after they finished hoisting the beams. The two mobile cranes were deconstructing themselves for departure.

All the photos for Aug 10 and 11 are now up on my site and a fair number of them
Google has the new layout what the new pedestrian over the QEW at Ogden Rd will look like when it built on their map. All the rebar columns in place with a few columns on the northside form and pour. Don't see a centre column in the QEW at this time and may come later or the bridge will be one long section made of steel. If it one section of steel, will have to be put together on site as it will too long to use local routes as one section given the issues for the griders that were place for haft a bridge.

Had a quick look at the intersection today with light poor for shooting.
The new road/ramp to the North Service road is about ready for paving. The sound wall is in place for the new road/ramp. Underground utility work still taking place on the North Service road. No idea if temporary traffic light will be install before the shifting of the current Dixie Rd if it supposed to open in Oct compared the the Sept date now or when the new Dixie Road and overpass opens late this year.
The new overpass is ready for the concrete deck for both section and could be pour by the end of the month or the first week of Oct. Work underway for installing utilities for the new south section for Dixie Rd, but still have to pour the curbs.
The new west South Service road connecting to Dixie is pave with the base coat and almost ready to be open. No idea where the east South Service Road is at.

I noticed the bridge had been delivered and was on what appeared to be the southwest side of the plaza parking lot. I was driving on the QEW so didn't get a really good look on Friday.
