Man, the memories.I love my family, but I always go the airport solo, and if it’s after lunch you’ll find me at the bar having a pre-flight martini. And make that a gin martini, can’t stand the vodka variety.
As a kid, the airport security experience was much more amenable to family greeting me at the airport. It was amazing to see my other parent (daddy) as I disembarked the plane with the mommy. Or vice versa, waiting (with my mommy) for my daddy to appear from the gate after a long business trip. It was the classic late 70s/early 80s experience (I'm 45).
Not anymore. Modern security situation means it's a horrendous nightmare, and now is reserved for the uber-special moments (once-in-lifetime) such as greeting your other half after they served in the military -- or some other very momentous arrival. And even nowadays, that is often after the baggage check given not all airports let greeters into the secure area.
