GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

They moved the station from the historic station building on Main Street Unionville to its current location near the 407 and Kennedy. Ideally they would have left the old station open as well, but it had little in the way of parking space and it was walkable for very few compared to the Markham GO station on Main Street Markham, so I understand. Despite having a small amount of parking, Markham GO has the third highest ridership on the line (these numbers are AM peak only, since that's all I have):

Unionville 1810
Mount Joy 1330
Markham 1250
Centennial 740
Milliken 680
Stouffville 660
Agincourt 510
Lincolnville 130

This is late, but thank you! I'm surprised Mount Joy has less ridership.

lots of major bus connections and also has a huge a** parking lot. You have to look at what is in range for driving distance, which there is a lot of. The amount of people who walk to and from unionville is very little, but that doesn't mean it isn't the busiest station.

Makes sense. Oakville GO is like that, especially with the high bus usage post train ride.

If King Rd in Burlington is to open in December as Plan, not hold my breath on that date. A lot of retaining wall to be built at both ends. You can walk across the tracks with no problem with GO trains flying by when the lights are on.

They are putting the roof on the new Burlington Station using wood. Really taking their time on this one.

Wasn't sure if the stub columns for the Clarkson New Parking Structure was for future expansion, but what I saw on Tuesday it not. They are putting a steel joist roof up now and looks like it will have solar panels on it. Another slow project.

Under Mississauga Budget info on Tuesday, utilities are going to be move starting in 2014 and the new grade separation completed by 2016 for Torban Rd and Goreway Dr. Mississauga is pickup some of this cost.

Can't believe how both Clarkson and Burlington projects are taking soooo long to do.

All the steel roof is in place now from what I could see from the train today for Clarkson. Added the steel frame for the elevators and some inclosure.

They are installing the plywood for the roof at Burlington with the south side mostly done. The floor in the station has mesh and rebar in place to pour the concrete one the roof is all on for that area. They were grading the area in front of the new station for the new sidewalk and driveway so concrete can be pour for it in Dec.

For Torban Rd, do you know if the project includes both rail lines; Halton & Weston subdivisions?

I will put this here as its not a project now, but more a Toronto project, but effect GO in the long run.

With the removal of the Dufferin Bridge, one hope both Metrolinx and the city think about the future of the Lakeshore line and a new bridge be design for it.

There is enough room in the corridor for 6/7 tracks as plan by GO and the new Dufferin bridge be built for these extra tracks.

On TTC Western Waterfront expansion, they show their line running on an elevated line on the north side with 7 tracks noted on the plan.

Having an extra 2 tracks from Bathurst to Willowbrook Yard will allow for better service in the future. The only problem with the extra track is between the yard and Park Lawn, there is no room for them without tearing a few building down and fixing the Royal York Bridge.

A 5th track is going in for the Exhibition Station now, but it can't get pass Dufferin St because of the bridge foundation.

If the existing footing is removed, it will allow for the 5th track to go further west.
