UPX could evolve into the west leg of the Ontario Line.If after Etobicoke North closes, Woodbine gets a UPX station then every station along the "express" train will finally have a stop!

The fact that the OL does not go through Union makes that idea unappealing for the purpose of the UPX.UPX could evolve into the west leg of the Ontario Line.
Too bad that subways or metros or even light rail lines cannot have branches. Oh wait, they do.The fact that the OL does not go through Union makes that idea unappealing for the purpose of the UPX.
Not in Toronto. That is impossible!Too bad that subways or metros or even light rail lines cannot have branches. Oh wait, they do.
How soon people forget...Not in Toronto. That is impossible!
Sometimes though having different lines share the same routes can have problems. My friends who live in San Francisco always complain that when one line has issues basically the whole system comes to a halt when the problem blocks a major route.Forget? No. Just know that it won't be done again anytime soon, if ever.
So, yes in modern systems branches can and do exist. However,in Toronto, no, branches cannot happen.
There's a certain romanticism about the interlining trial, but the system was never properly designed for it and it's probably a good thing they didn't continue it given the system infrastructure that was built.Sometimes though having different lines share the same routes can have problems. Which line(s) are considered branched?Except that they already do run a branched subway service every single weekday morning. And have since the late 1970s.

Yes, hopefully the station at Weston will be seen as redundant once GO service is frequent and UP will skip Weston, Stockyards, and Liberty Village. If after Etobicoke North closes, Woodbine gets a UPX station then every station along the "express" train will finally have a stop!
Yonge-University-Spadina. From Finch, one half of the service stops at Glencairn, the rest goes all the way to VMC.Which line(s) are considered branched?

When The Crosstown opens this fall (hopefully), it too will have a similar service for some of its operating periods.
