Finch West Line 6 LRT

Agreed. I always look for smallspy posts in the transit section of this site. It's great to hear from experts...frankly on any topic.

(Especially in the era of RFK as "health secretary", and Matt Gaetz as f**king AG. Stuff is going get weird, wrong, and dangerous quickly.)
also a fox host as the secretary of defence and a mistress as his homeland secretary. i digress😅

I'll have to read up on the contracts I have access to, I would be suprised if the TTC isn't mentioned as an important stakeholder. I'm not privy to the details of the lawsuit though so its probably something I'm not thinking of.
You'd think that would be the case. You have to remember, these contracts are at least a decade-old, and date from a period where Metrolinx's legal and contracting abilities were beyond incompetent. Remember when they tried to cancel about half of the Bombardier Flexity order, and thought they could simply claim they were forced to do this because (then) Bombardier was behind schedule, so Metrolinx wouldn't have to pay penalties. Which resulted in litigation, and the court ordering 9-digit penalties, eviscerating Metrolinx in the ruling? Gee I'm so glad that they had Alstom build the 18 cars for this line - when there's 380 Flexities for the GTA and Edmonton - and still would have been time to build the 18 cars for this line (I'm sure they could have found a way to add another 8-metres to the existing 40-metre long design - they've extended the European version out to 45-metre for Dresden).

We should probably go to the "Donald Trump's 'merica" thread - but there's no way in the world that even a Republican Senate will ratify these two - not to mention known Russian-asset Tulsi Gabbard as intelligence director).

I don't know what the endgame here is - but it's clearly not to have these people in the room. I can see someone in the Trump camp saying "what do we do with RFK now - he's a problem; hey, let's give him what he wants, and make the Senate do the dirty work". Or perhaps this is part of some negotiating tactic with the Senate leadership to trade for something Trump really wants - like $300 billion for internment camps to house 10 million people. There's a long history in the USA of a handful of members in Congress holding the administration (of their own party!) hostage, for something or another; recall that Gaetz himself pulled that stunt only 12 months ago to out a Republican speaker!

Didn't know this was the Finch LRT and irrelevant politics thread.
The 9-digit penalties paid to Bombardier by Metrolinx was all about Bombardier's alleged (but ultimate rejected) inability to have the Finch West cars available and Metrolinx's gross incompetent inabilty to write contract. (I still wonder if someone in Metrolinx was getting the kick-backs from Alstom; because nothing else rationally explains that one).

But yes - we should move the foreign stuff to the thread I linked above.
