Edgewater sign defaced by taggers

Re: t

bizorky:

Putting graffiti "art" in context is bound to end in tears, but someone's gotta do it.

adma:

I don't get the David Frum / ROM reference. As far as I know he's not on either of their Boards, is neither a curator nor a knowledgeable collector, nor a benefactor.

Re: t

Didn't David (Barbara must be spinning in her grave) Frum write a book that no one read saying that the 70s were to blame for everthing? I'm pretty sure it was reviewed in the Times and promptly forgotten thereafter.

Re: t

... except by adma, obviously. Thanks, ap, for translating.

Yes, David "axis of evil" Frum did, in fact, write such a book. Not wanting to spend money that would benefit little Dave, I took it from the library. You are correct in describing it as being forgettable, as it was the usual rehash of what was wrong with the 60's dragging the the 1970's into the blame game.

Re: t

Murray Frum donated a large number of African sculptures from his collection to the AGO in 1999, which we'll see more of when the renovated gallery opens. So, someone in the family has done something worthwhile for the cultural life of the city.

Re: t

Danielle "my big mouth cost David Frum his White House job" Crittenden, typed a novel called "Amanda Bright@Home" which can frequently be found on downmarket remainder tables...

Re: t

Don't forget the Frum pad out by York Mills (Thom + Shim + Sutcliffe)...

Re: t

The garden folly was Shim Sutcliffe's first work, wasn't it?

These qualities don't appear to be passed on in the genes. I always think of Davy "evil doers" as being the spawn of Conrad Black.

Re: t

Perhaps they were Mommy's genes? Apparently, sneaky Babs used to re-tape her questions - after the interviews were over - so she could appear more insightful in her interrogations of Mulroney etc.

Re: t

That's fairly standard tv news practice. A lot of interviews are actually done with the producer, with the on camera talent taped later and edited in.

Re: t

It's often necessary in single camera interviews, unless the network wants to splurge on a second camera-person.

Black actually donated $500,000 to the Four Seasons Centre.
