Bloor-Yorkville Scene

No. Holt Renfrew will be annexing the second floor space.
Aritzia is taking over the old BCBG space for a 11,000 square foot store that will run from Fossil to the lot line. That will make it Artizia's second largest space after Robson street. Both will open a year from now. Not sure of the existing access point escalator to the lower level that used to be in between Aritzia and BCBG.

If all that's set in stone, I guess that gives us a sense of the pace at which the Holts redevelopment is intended to move (not fast).

Michael Kors, perhaps unsurprisingly given their larger struggles, is closing their Bloor Street (Colonnade) store.

I always considered Michael Kors the new Coach.

They expanded too fast and have been supplanted by other similar brands (Kate Spade, Tory Burch maybe).

Plus they are in every outlet mall with 100 dollar purses. How’s that high end? And every person carries it.

So any rumours on who is taking over Michael Kors yet? Too early?

It's a two-level space, correct? Wonder what the actual square-footage is. pw20, do you know what the timing is for the closure? Maybe it's time for Retail-Insider to publish their Bloor report.

All of the Michael Kors signage is now gone.
Coach has closed and windows have been papered over in preparation for renovations (I believe they're staying put).
That winter parka pop-up in the old North Face space has closed.

Aritzia to Open Massive Mink Mile Flagship

January 30, 2018

By Craig Patterson

Vancouver-Based multi-brand women’s retailer Aritzia will significantly expand its store on Toronto’s Bloor Street West next year by annexing space formerly occupied by BCBG, as well as a former entrance to the Holt Renfrew Centre. When it opens in the spring of 2019, Bloor Street’s Aritzia will be one of the company’s largest stores.

The current Aritzia space at 50 Bloor Street West spans just over 4,900 square feet on one level. Holt Renfrew Centre’s former 5,050 square foot BCBG space, adjacent to Aritzia, will be merged with the existing Aritzia store that will coincide with a full renovation to reflect the brand’s updated aesthetic. As well, a street-level entrance to the Holt Renfrew Centre, located between Aritzia and the former BCBG space, has been shuttered to be integrated into the new Aritzia store, which will span almost 11,440 square feet on one level. That street level entrance was formerly used as an entrance point to music retailer HMV which had a store upstairs, as well as escalators downstairs into the Holt Renfrew Centre.

The downstairs escalators will be kept, according to Aritzia, providing direct access from Aritzia to the Holt Renfrew Centre concourse level below. A new illuminated marquee entrance will welcome visitors from the street level to the expanded Aritzia flagship.

People have been curious about what's happening at the NW corner of Yonge & Bloor (Current Swarovski/Talbots).

Ahhh, the intersection of perpetual hoarding. We all know the Bay Bunker is due for an overhaul, too. Yay! Many more years of pedestrian bottlenecks and poorly cleaned sidewalks!

We'll repost what we had up here earlier, my apologies. The landlord requested it be delayed by a day. And yes ADRM, we can confirm the speculation is correct at that corner. The discussion on this forum, relating to that retailer, has been pretty bang-on recently.
