Bloor-Yorkville Scene

wait... Chanel opted for a space without display windows? Is this their permanent new location or is it temporary?

The lack of display windows emphasises its exclusivity. The word "Chanel" on the facade says all one needs to know. Chanel's target customer isn't the one wandering by who sees a handbag in a window and says "oh, I will check out this new purse shop."

In the fashion world window displays are a pure form of art. Chanel has some of the of the most iconic window displays in fashion industry.

So? The windows (with muntins) in this heritage facade do not lend themselves to "the most iconic window displays in fashion", and they don't need to shove handbags into the small windows to attract their desired clientele. The blank windows seem way more effective here. The front of the store looks pretty damn good.

And here is the Retail Inside article on its opening, including photos:

Zegna will be opening a boutique next to Hermes in the old Pottery Barn Kids space. I believe it is about 2500 square feet. The movie theatre facade is still for lease. Still looking to confirm Gucci's move to Yorkville Ave.

Isn't the old Pottery Barn Kids space also behind the University Theatre facade, but on the second floor? Do you know how they propose providing access to the new Zegna?

Sorry for the confusion the PB space will be sub-divided into multiple spaces, though not sure of the final configuration. The last config has the second floor divided in to a few units with access off of Cumberland. Barry's Boot Camp was being courted heavily. The main floor of the old Pottery Barn will be divided in to two, with Zegna taking the smaller space next to Hermes. That's confirmed Zegna will have a Bloor street entrance next to Hermes in the store-front that used to have the Pottery Barn Kids logo on it (but to your point, PB kids was on the second floor).

As in - this photo, zegna will have the column that says PB Kids:

Hermes had its opening bash last night; here are a few images from it:
