2014 Municipal Election: Toronto Council Races

That last discalaimer about the falling magnets is rather valid given the stunted intellect of FN...I would fully expect them to try sticking magnets on their stainless steel fridge doors.

Well, no, she needs to be out of office for trying to pressure a local business into selling to another local business and in so doing divesting the proprietor of her livelihood.

Bailao is pretty decent otherwise, but when you start shit like this all your positive contributions are overshadowed as far as I'm concerned. Corrupt and in the pocket of The Drake (among, universe knows others) unless she agreed to do as they wanted because the proprietor of The Drake knows how to cry and she wanted to shut him up. (Which wouldn't surprise me...his crying bit, I mean)

As I understand it, the drinks that got her the DUI (I have no idea if she is actually a drunk, or if that was a spectacularly poor and out of character choice for her) were bought for her by casino lobbyists. Additionally, she voted with Ford fairly frequently at the beginning of the term. She seems like a pretty decent person, on the whole, but she's confusing in her political stance. Mazer, though, comes across as a very insightful guy, hard working, and the sort of councillor I would prefer.

It seems like Ward 18 will be pretty close between Bailao and Mazer with the vote splitting large along Portuguese/non-Portuguese lines. That split was evident in 2010 as well as in the most recent provincial election in Davenport.

Wait, you may be on to something....she probably gets free drinks at The Drake, seeing as you characterise her as a drunk. Must be. Still corrupt. Drinks, money, same thing to a drunk, innit?

hahah how are you friend. But yes she is one and the drake stuff is just awful. If not for the fisaco and circus, she would have been already forced out imo.

Love the comment (but hope the woman is ok)

ETA: Oh, Sarah!

Funny seeing that from Kate Holloway. I got a blast email from her campaign, and when I questioned how she got my email address, she mentioned she collected a bunch of email addresses from her time helping the Trinity Spadina Liberals... So in essence, stole their contact lists.

When I asked the Liberals about it, they said she should not be using that list. Her campaign team tried to play it off as nothing.

PinkLucy, If Steven Levitan got his email list from Stintz, your name was likely stolen by her team from Rob Ford (the mayor's email list). Your name would have been on that list if you emailed his office at any point during his term.

Apparently the list was taken from Soknacki's campaign - he sent out a tweet last night apologizing for it.

So is Paul Ainslie "a drunk" as well then?

Turns out it was an evil Soknacki volunteer :)

Who are the main contenders in Ward 16? I know JP Boutros was Stintz's Executive Assistant, and Terry Mills was the runner-up to Stintz last time.

I certainly hope you're right. I live in Ward 18 and commute through most of it on my bike ride to work. I'm pretty disappointed with the high number of Bailao signs around the ward. For the first time in about 10 years I've put a lawn sign (for Mazer). After Cash and Schein won, I figured Bailao would be good as gone come election time. With Schein losing his re-election bid earlier this year, I'm wondering if Ward 18 has swung back to the center.

I haven't seen a single Ford sign in Ward 18. There's quite a few Chow signs and the odd John Tory sign, so maybe Mazer does have a fighting chance.

I don't attribute Schein's loss as a shift to the center. Kathleen Wynne tacked left and Andrea Horwath was a disaster in Toronto. Christina Martins also did much better in getting out the Portuguese vote last time.

Is that the "we don't have a revenue problem" dolts' slate? Why would anyone want to be on a slate with Mammo? No shame. No self-respect.
++++++++++

Just so it's known, I don't consider Bailao to be a drunk and was only joshing about her getting free drinks from The Drake in exchange for her support in pressuring the proprietor of Saigon Flower to disappear. What I wasn't joshing about is her disgusting behaviour in the matter. Bailao needs to go. (I'm not even going to mention her ridiculous dismissal of modern engineering in refusing to even consider a rail overpass for pedestrians and cyclists near the bottom of Dovercourt as part of a demand for developer contribution in the area). As my peers like to say: Man, bun her.
