When I was a kid my family was one of the first to move into a new development and our neighbourhood was a giant construction site for several years (4-5) afterwards. Yes there was sound and dust and mud and I had to walk through it all to a bus stop to get to school- but we dealt with it...

So CTV News wrote an article about this project: apparently when you move into new development neighbourhood, you can hear the sound of said development still under construction. 🚧 Who would have thought...

That‘s a good point, I guess since the cities together form one city (in essence), the dip in building height will make the boundary more noticeable from a distance when you see the whole skyline. Does the KW area have a point of higher elevation such as a hill or escapement, like Hamilton...

That sounds like a good idea! Mississauga needs more high order transit going into Toronto as well as its other neighbours.

I guess one could argue that luxury towers reduce some demand for McMansions to be built so that the wealthy have a place to park their money live. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Even in Oakville, the big box plazas along highly populated corridors such as Dundas and Trafalgar are endowed with largely empty carparks. I don‘t understand the rationale for the scale of land usage for a relatively small number of stores; was it purely due to minimum parking requirements?

I think garden suites would be sweet in the outer suburbs where the backyards are large enough to accommodate another 1-2 dwellings on the property. Are any communities outside of Toronto proper considering these?

Here is an example of suites being built over the garages a series of low-rise apartment complexes in the southern German city of Karlsruhe.

Perhaps one day it will be associated with Toronto, i.e. “preserving heritage structures whilst accommodating new developments à la Toronto Style.” ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This project makes me feel like the BRT should be a higher order transit. Will the BRT lane at least be used by buses which also enter into some parts of the neighbourhood and then join back up on Lakeshore?

It is interesting seeing and hearing the names of places, objects, and animals which originate and were used going back centuries and millennia in a place where one lives - yet for the very first time.
