    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It's always a possibility on any contract. Though the TTC would have had to screwed something up to end up in that hole (I'm not sure where STM went wrong). I think the outcome of a challenge wouldn't be two companies being contracted or working together. It would either be the award being...

    Parking - Catch All

If I got into a bank machine, it takes 5 minutes. And once you pay, you have a 15-minute grace. I've put a nickel in before. I'd put a penny in if they'd ever had taken them.

    Parking - Catch All

I've seen meters in lots that no longer take coins. Criminals? Popping a quarter in the meter is simply faster.

    Parking - Catch All

Are they getting rid of the ability to pay with cash, debit, or credit?

I disagree. You simply put staff on the platform to make sure everyone is guided to the correct stairs. Which is exactly how it works/worked at Waterloo, St. Pancras, and Gare du Nord (well, you need less people at Gare du Nord with only the access to the platform from the one end). Knock down...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'd be really surprised if the timing of this opening has any factor in the calculus of the election call. It has more to do with how they are polling today. And possibly the status of the OPP investigation. It would be nice if Lindsay used the period of his honeymoon to drop all the bad news...

    Metrolinx: Other Items (catch all)

I don't think so. Either it's a personal decision or just typical finding someone to blame. How many people have they fired at the top of the subway and other divisions?

There's place for the Blue Bovine and what appears to be the world's biggest food court - but they couldn't use a portion of the station for a custom's facility, like they do at the much much smaller station in Vancouver? It's a solvable problem if they wanted to do it. Ditto for Welland - if...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Good grief - but what happens in the meantime? I'd think they have to be hiring a fair amount of staff for the next 9 months of operation - just to account for attrition. I thought we'd heard that training had stopped?

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

It depends how the language is phrased. One does wonder what drove this. Is it just about the opportunity and the money? Or are there big problems somewhere that have yet to explode, and the rats are running away from the sinking ship.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

There was huge problems on the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) in London. I think the system is from Siemens (part of it is - being mainline rail it's complicated with multiple systems). I think this is just the nature of the beast these days. Line 1 seemed to go relatively smoothly in terms of...

Though not all of us live downtown - so cherry picking the starting point to favour a mode. If you wanted to do it properly, you'd pick a dozen points, and average. Though I doubt the worst point for air, would be faster than rail for Toronto-Montreal or Toronto-Ottawa. Or for Edinburgh to...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

No direct connection to the Bay concourse (which is also a problem with the Skywalk lack of a direct connection to the York concourse).

    VIA Rail

It is the CN mainline - so a very busy line. I do love how CN only needs a single track, when VIA isn't paying for 2 or 3! 🤣

I'm not sure you've been in London, but there's no real downtown. The business centre these days is Canary Wharf, and that's the station I used for the calculation. One could also argue Bank station, or more traditionally Charing Cross. None of which are that that close to Euston - which isn't...

From the city centre? Looks like 46 minutes to Heathrow Central, and 25 minutes to Euston, and having to change trains! The only reason that such comparisons come close to working, is that the airport estimates here include last mile, and the rail one's don't. Most don't even check bags anymore.

    Toronto 530 Yonge Street | 224.8m | 68s | KingSett Capital | Giannone Petricone

Wow - 800+ units and zero parking. It's a good spot for it I suppose. What kind of private parking options are in that area? Odd though that some of the design reports talk about a P1 parking level.

    Toronto 2451-2495 Danforth Avenue | 122.08m | 35s | First Capital | Superkül

The simultaneous closing of this and ValueMart was my first thought. What's the next closest ... No Thrills on Coxwell - or Loblaws on Victoria Park? Transit-wise, it's probably the No Thrills on the 506 from Main. Annoying for those near Woodbine. And the selection at the No Thrills is...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Was it? That rings a bell now you say that. My apologies! That explains the timeframe. And now it's fairer for everyone, given you don't want too many people knowing the numbers for so long.

I've never taken that long flying door to door from Montreal to Toronto. And it's not like the front door of Central Station and Union Station are my destinations! (other than the occasional big delay ... but that happens on trains too!)
