Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

Tbf Well allowance doesn't necessarily mean that he used it. It's just available to him if he needed it. That being said if he doesn't have a car but still claimed that allowance as part of his income, that would be fraud
If he isn't using this and they went with this story that's the biggest clickbait fraud ever. I have to imagine that the story is he's claiming it or simply passively accepting the cash and then not using it for its intended purpose.

TLDR for us who can't afford a subscription?

I had a feeling this would happen. They couldn't afford to not renew his contract last year but I bet they told him to resign as soon as the CT is finished. At least now it's a mutually neutral outcome
There's nothing much to it beyond the byline, a quarter of it is Jill Andrews (MPP for St Pauls) calling for him to be fired.

I just hope that his resignation follows with the appointment of someone who can provide better leadership and strategic direction because knowing Metrolinx and their projects that have stalled or have gone significantly over budget, I have low hopes.

I think just about anyone will be more effective than him. He was arguably the most overpaid and ineffective bureaucrat in Canadian history. Good riddance!!!

Sadly, ION got slower when Automatic Train Protection (ATP) was enabled, and it seems they're resolved to just living with it instead of fixing it. Southbound trains slow to a crawl way too early in Waterloo Park before getting to the Erb/Caroline intersection, and again slow to a crawl well ahead of getting to the Hayward S. Yes, the speed limits do drop ahead of these road transitions, but still, the trains were much quicker through them when the drivers were doing Line Of Sight (LOS) before ATP was enabled. I'm convinced the signaling is glitchy at these locations.
As I understand it, that has nothing to do with the ATP.

It has to do with the signal timing. The original timing was too aggressive when the service launched. Slowing down the trains allows for more time for the traffic signals to cycle, and all of the traffic to clear ahead of the trains. That the lower speed limits were brought in at the same time as the ATP was more coincidence than anything.

Why? What is the fascination with bringing these people over from places like South Africa, England, Boston to run our transit? Is there no one capable to get the job done here instead of trying to find an international "star"...
actually youre right, there is no one capable. we have no competent home grown talent here tbh....

It depends how the language is phrased.

One does wonder what drove this. Is it just about the opportunity and the money? Or are there big problems somewhere that have yet to explode, and the rats are running away from the sinking ship.

Vester's leaving means we are months away from its opening... or there are new problems and little idea around an opening date.

I'd also say if this isn't open by the spring, there will be no spring election.
occams razor: The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.

He didnt like being directly targeted by the media and found a new job

I'd be really surprised if the timing of this opening has any factor in the calculus of the election call. It has more to do with how they are polling today. And possibly the status of the OPP investigation.

It would be nice if Lindsay used the period of his honeymoon to drop all the bad news, so it's out in the open and not on his head. Line 5, Line 2 extension TBM ... and the current Line 6 and 10 tentative schedule. Plus whatever is going on with OnCorridor.
