    Toronto 2 St Thomas | 80.46m | 26s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

I had such high hopes. So sad seeing Hariri Pontarini stumble like this.

    Toronto Smart House | 82.6m | 25s | Urban Capital | a—A

Not soon hopefully, they give so much to that stretch. Condos are so bad at fine grain retail. There's nothing enticing about a blank facade of glass.

But that CONTRAST, damn I love it. It should give the effect of looking visually distinct from the brick, not overshadow it. I think the photo is just showing a touch too many highlights in the brick, which hides details. In person the effect should be better.

    Toronto Spadina Adelaide Square | 187.43m | 58s | Fengate | WZMH

I like it, but I just wish developers were more daring with their palettes. Why not deep crimson red, or pumpkin orange? Colour feels like a breath of fresh air in this city sometimes!

Toronto CampusOne Student Residence (was University Place) | 79.85m | 25s | Knightstone | Diamond Schmitt

I'm glad I live in a city that has real competition for its worst building every year.

Woohoo, colour! With Picasso adding some deep reds down the street from this section of Toronto could become the Red Queen of Hearts. (I'll see myself out)

No need to host the Worst of the Year Awards, this one already swept every category.

    Toronto Monde | 149.95m | 44s | Great Gulf | Moshe Safdie

Monde is so well designed that it actually makes Aqualina look even better.

Toronto CN Tower: Entry Pavilion, Plaza, Renos | ?m | ?s | CLC | Arcadis

Okay I have so many questions with this decision. The defining feature of the CN tower is that it's tall, really tall. So tall that its massing gives off the impression of being slender and elegant. The subtle curve as it rives offers a sense of levity, as though it's growing taller every day...

    Toronto Daniels Waterfront - City of the Arts | 156.05m | 45s | Daniels | RAW Design

Hey, they can both contribute to the feeling I was talking about. In fact, the row of buildings is what gives the distinct feeling as opposed to one individual, so the more the merrier! Monde is looking amazing, but this thread is about City of the Arts :p

    Toronto Daniels Waterfront - City of the Arts | 156.05m | 45s | Daniels | RAW Design

These just scream "big city" as you walk by. If you've been to Amsterdam and walked east along the canal from Centraal, the row of buildings feels like what this is going for. There are about six or seven buildings all with the same form of massing and materials that make quite the impression...

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

Any mirrored surface that vehicles and people walk on would look terrible in no time at all. It would be cool if it had up-lighting though.

    Toronto Ryerson University: Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex | 105.76m | 27s | Ryerson University | Perkins&Will

I'm really excited to see the materials here, I doubt Ryerson would cheap out given the prominence and importance of this building in growing their campus.

    Toronto Casa III Condos | 179.52m | 55s | Cresford | a—A

Do we have any idea what the crown is going to look like? I love the way Casa 2 was handled, but I don't know if I'd want another copy. I checked the renders and nothing is shown. Are we just getting an X2 treatment? Not that I mind.

    Toronto Alter | 107.89m | 33s | Tridel | a—A

The corner panels really should have been solid white like River City 2. The paneling and mullions really mess it up. I'm really sad to see what's happened to this stretch of Church.

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I wish it was bronze or some other colour than GREY. The design is gorgeous though, no complaints there.

    Toronto The Livmore | 138.68m | 43s | Vertica | IBI Group

This just seems like such a mismatch of materials. I'll withhold judgement till it's closer to completion since I think it could turn out, but right now it just seems like a wide range of quality that it could go either way. Cheap materials always look so much worse when they're beside quality...

    Toronto Concord Canada House | 231.97m | 74s | Concord Adex | Arcadis

Blech. It's the Tim Horton's marketing strategy: wrap your low-quality product in patriotic branding and people literally eat it up. This is no different.

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

I thought the same thing about the London planes on QQ, but I've noticed that london planes all across the region seem to be having a rough time this year. I was just down near Turkey Point and they all had the same sparse growth patterns. Even the giant LP in Allan Gardens is sparse. Maybe it's...
