    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Are they doing this on purpose? For real - the contract execution for the southern section is Fall 2022, but it's Spring 2024 for the northern section. Considering that the maintenance facility is going to be built in the northern section (which is mostly above-grade), shouldn't they prioritize...

    Street Lighting

New report on street lighting to the Infrastructure and Environment Committee IE26.15 - Update on Pedestrian Scale Street Lighting 1. They misunderstood the purpose of Wong-Tam's motion... to review street lighting in general, not just pedestrian lighting. Hence, the name: "Update on Pedestrian...

My key takeaways from the recommendations and report on street lighting 1. They misunderstood the purpose of Wong-Tam's motion... to review street lighting in general, not just pedestrian lighting. Hence, the name: "Update on Pedestrian Scale Street Lighting". Denzil Minnan-Wong's motion was...

Toronto Bathurst Quay Revitalization | ?m | 2s | City of Toronto | Kearns Mancini

Honestly, we need more people like you! This is the kind of energy and creativity that would very much benefit our bureaucracy and ultimately our city! I'm also very impressed by the short period of time between the adoption of the Bathurst Quay Neighbourhood Plan and its implementation.

I like your comment, and yeah the Waterfront Innovation Centre isn't good enough (especially after having a design competition for it), but it was under the purview of the Waterfront Design Review Panel, whereas this one is under the purview of the city's own DRP.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I don't know much about engineering, but I can confidently say that they could've built each station consecutively (after the TBM passes through the station box). On the other hand, politicians keep getting in the way :(

Why would construction on stations start so late? It makes no sense! Build them at the same time!

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Matlow could've just said "this LRT will not affect traffic lanes and will not operate along streets". He was trying to, but his frustration prevailed. When you talk to people that don't understand how stuff works, you gotta be very simple when you address their lack of knowledge and you gotta...

    St Lawrence Market

I think all options have great ideas. Misting + warming stations, communal dining - all great! In terms of aesthetics, I think Option 1 'The Stitch' is the best one. They have St. Lawrence lighting + paving + benches (as used on Market Street and Berczy Park) and having different public realm...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

All true. I guess this does fall under the traditional use of MZOs, but they better go through the other planning processes.

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

I can see why it's needed to allow for residential units, but the transit node was already included in the sec plan. It didn't anticipate a subway station, but it did plan for this transit hub. At the same time, I'm concerned that the massing is way too flat and undifferentiated, which could by...

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

Why would an MZO be appropriate if the Unilever Precinct Secondary Plan already allows for very high densities?

I was there too! I wonder why the lighting was on at daytime.

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Apparently, College won't be rebuilt as a Great Street because it would require rerouting sewers and water mains, which the city isn't ready to do at the moment. That's what Mike Layton said. For now, we'll just have a bike lane without any major street transformations for College St.

    St Lawrence Market

Do you know if the design was guided by a planning document, or did they just do whatever they wanted? It looks pretty nice, so I'm wondering if the design has to do with planning guidelines. On the other hand, there weren't any Site Plan Applications so how would streetscape + urban design...

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

Heritage isn't just whatever is old. It has to have some sort of value to it, and I don't think anyone would miss this train shed. The worst thing is that they're keeping it in the same bland grey colour, and the new platform renderings look very no-frills as of now. They could've at least...

    Toronto 75 on The Esplanade | 99.97m | 29s | Harhay | a—A

Does anyone know if the concrete poles are going to be replaced with the more elegant St. Lawrence poles + lamps? Also, why is the Church St sidewalk just bare concrete and why aren't there any trees on The Esplanade?
