    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

Why would we subjugate Warren Park residents to slogging through the Junction? Even the portion that the High Park bus will run will will add 15 min+ to a one-way bus to the subway compared going to Jane. Another reason why the 55 bus runs along Jane is that quite a few 35 buses are full and...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

The LCBO lands may or may not be a reference point. Note that in the RFP the purchaser had to supply the LCBO with a lease for a new commercial office + retail space. Of course the terms are in a schedule which are not on Infrastructure Ontario's website. So we don't know if the net value...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I am hoping someone will do an information access request for the month of January so we can see the total ridership by mode (and for the subway by station). Plus how many transfers for each bus and/or station. Then when we quibble about ridership we will actually have factual support versus...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

I'm not sure if the press releases ever said the full shot but the Board material gave various alternatives. I think the developers can pay for a good portion of the cost (especially reducing the cost of the taj mahal at STC). But this 100% or nothing approach is of course not going to happen...

    VIA Rail

We will see in the coming months with the Glen Abbey lawsuit(s) how far reaching some of these "connections" are. There is a fine line between what is heritage and NIMBY-ism.

So they know which stations on line 2 are dirty...but they don't then deploy cleaners to them? I have seen surfaces at some stations that have not been cleaned for months. Zero pride of ownership by management and staff.. The TTC knows it is a problem but them does nothing to rectify the...

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There are some parts of the union contracts which do not make sense when looking at a high-frequency transit line. These need to be changed to reflect the fact that this is high frequency and not a fixed bus schedule. Items such are variable length shifts (your shift ends when the train gets...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Retail electrical prices are not an indication as to what it costs to manufacture electricity nor what commercial or rail electrification will cost. Germany still produces 40% of their electricity via coal. But they are replacing nuclear with renewable energy AND they require a large payment...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Long-haul has a bigger issue with the lack of drivers. They are focusing on automation over "green" to solve this employment shortage. Even if they go from one off ramp to the other (and a driver does the last mile) it saves them huge dollars. Which means they can drive the vehicles longer...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

Its also important to note the dedicated left turn proposals for motor vehicles (not bicycles). One of the biggest complaints I have heard is motorists getting frustrated that only 1 or 2 cars can turn each light cycle which means they get aggressive and create dangerous situations for...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Even thought the Liberals talked about creating transit nodes with dense walk-able communities where surface parking lots were (parking goes underneath the new urban community) it was all talk. And now the PC's are looking at it too. I hope that they follow through (and not shelve the idea...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Maybe to start we can at least charge Seniors full price for riding during rush hour. They can schedule their day to avoid the extra fare. If they can't I don't see the need to give them a discount.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

It is weird when you are there. About 5 years ago you could see the smog and the scooters and buses were drowning out all the noise. Now it's creepy-ish quiet for a city of 20 million.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

One option to solve the unload issue for DD is pricing. Have a subway type feel on the first level with no/very little seating. On the stairs to the second floor have a second tap point. For those travelling long distance they can go to the top floor for free. But for the shorter distances...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

The spacing of stops on the Queensway is absurd. Roncey, Glendale/St Joe's, and Parkside in 700m (plus the loop). Then Ellis, Windermere and S Kingsway all also in 700m. A better solution would be to eliminate the Parkside and S. Kingsway stops (the 2 least used).

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

Totally agree. You could see the KW King St corridor slowly gain density prior to the LRT announcement. And then (relatively) it exploded in density. Until the province sees that Cambridge is committed to a similar strategy it's not worth it (IMO they aren't). You don't want to see a LRT...

Waterloo Region Transit Developments (ION LRT, new terminal, GRT buses)

And rightfully so. There is zero business case for a LRT in Cambridge. Bus (with some signal priority) is all that is needed for the foreseeable future. It was just promised (and being acted on) so the 3 mayors could be united in their initial application for funding.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

The problem with a bus N-S alternative is getting people off the streetcar. Most of their destinations are along King or Queen. Even now if I want to get from the Humber Bay area it would take 55 minutes if I'm on the 501 to Downtown (including the walk to the Humber Loop) versus 1h 5min via...

    TTC: Streetcar Network

That's a rather long loop. Instead continue on S Kingsway to the Eastbound Queensway ramp. Have the stop directly under the bridge (lights on eastbound Queensway would have to move). And then hop back up to S Kingway via the northbound ramp. (I think this is overkill...but it's an...
