Yeah, absolutely shocking. I know from several design/architectural firms that they struggle to have their company leads get some time to address the audience at ribbon cuttings. It should be standard that the designer gets some words in, no matter how well known they are, but when it happens...

Just a note to say that things are progressing here. The proponent submitted refined plans re: SPA for the 49-storey version back in May, got comments back from the over the summer, and have submitted responses to the City just in the last week. All technical in nature. No fab new renderings...

Funnily enough, even though Redwood's own website for this development is gone, their overall webpage still links to it... so, along with that and the crane and the linked coverage from May (thank you @futurebound) I've switched this to UC, changed the tenure to rental, and noted the crane! 42

The Province has never given any city the power to reject proposals based on their looks: Hamilton (and other cities in Ontario) can only refuse if the designs don't meet various building codes. 42

The now rigorously applied scalloping of the exterior, plus the faux oxidized-copper colour of the framing on the podium has me rather excited about this design: it's total swinging 60s here if they can pull this off as rendered! Front page story here. 42

I believe that most respondents in this thread would prefer to stick to details of new cycling infrastructure, without having to be feel like their every post is going to be held up for debate by another member throwing around statistics and claims that are untethered to any reviewable studies...
