State of the big chain grocery stores

I've been meaning to make a proper response to the goings on of this thread for a while, but haven't had time for it. In the meantime, I thought this might interest foodies of higher tax brackets...

    Mississauga 42 Port Street East | 40.7m | 11s | FRAM Building Group | B+H

Another view of the site: http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&FORM=LMLTCP&cp=r7ry7v8c17tj&style=b&lvl=2&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000&scene=28327387&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1 It looks like they could do a lot with that parking lot with the No Frills still in place. Does Mississauga cut down...

    Metrolinx: A new Logo

But "on y va" is still a pittiful translation of "linking people to places". Or is it the other way around? :D

    S U B U R B I A !

Once again, amen, brotha. If we're playing the "you should consider yourself lucky" game, I suppose I should show my hand. This is where I grew up: My house was built by my father on a lot severed in 1979 from farmer's fields. He fully admits that he wouldn't have done it knowing what he...

    More HOV lanes for highways

Amen, brotha. That's exactly what I was going to say. Who cares about the vehicle throughput? We should be focusing on people throughput. And I think this will improve greatly if they convert a lane or two of the 401 to HOV. Not only will it get more people moving in fewer cars, but it will...

Buy a ticket to ride - on the 401 -- Toronto Star

Let me start off this post by saying that we all know, deep down, that this proposal is a complete joke. Furthermore, Nope. Besides, that's not a good argument.

State of the big chain grocery stores

I'm kind of sad that I only stumbled upon this thread now, because I'm a bit of a grocery industry geek. It's intersting that you started a thread about it, because I read an incredibly long and interesting article in the Globe about it a while back...

    Vice Guide to North Korea

Please expand. . . I thought it was fascinating. I'd love to have gone on that trip myself but the guilt from giving money to the DPRK government would be too much.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Well done. Awesome work GO. But how the crap am I supposed to get from Guelph to Milton? That remains a GAPING hole in the GTA's transportation network.

Milton GO Line - 3rd track construction

That is an absolute joke. When I read this line, my jaw dropped and my heart sank. How can anyone think that it's acceptable to spend 3 years on an EA for this incredibly essential piece of infrastructure?

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

It manages to be tacky and boring at the same time. I feel like it could be so much more interesting . . . It looks like someone just spilled a bucket of words on the floor and threw some pictures of famous people on the roof. There's nothing compelling about it.

    Laurier Campus in Milton

Hey! Thanks for that. Very informative. At least it will be contiguous. But holy crap, are they even trying? Is the entire Milton Planning department from 1956? Business parks and residential do not a city make.

    Laurier Campus in Milton

I don't know who they're trying to kid, that's not *in* Milton, that's in a field between Milton and Burlington. This is the most absurd thing I've ever seen!! Who's goals does this meet? They're chewing up perfect agricultural land, they're making it difficult to access by GO, Milton Transit...

The Tenor (10 Dundas St E, Ent Prop Trust, 10s, Baldwin & Franklin)

Some upates: Shoppers Drug Mart is open (since thursday, actually) on floor -1 and it is soooo empty. I actually got greeted by a staffmember, she was so happy to see me walk in. There's a fair selection of food (plenty of organic!) and a post office. Instead of having to walk 8 minutes to the...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Also, the lack of transit (public or private) between Guelph (pop 115,000) and Milton (pop 54,000) is shameful - 40km from each other, both easily served along the 401 in around half an hour. One has to travel 50 mins to Square One, going past Milton, and then transfer to a 1+ hour bus trip back...

    Cathedraltown...suburbia with a twist

Any progress on this? I can't really get up there that easily :)

    Megabus to come to Toronto

Wouldn't it be neat if they started actually offering some competition with Greyhound? Toronto to Ottawa service for $1 would be just super.

    Laurier Campus in Milton

What happened to the lot that Milton set aside for a university campus right beside the GO station??

    Toronto Street Food

I want street Shawarma! The city has doner kebabs on their list but no shawarma!! Shawarma is the best fast food in the history of time!!

AMC Yonge & Dundas opens at Toronto Life Square

$2 discount? That's nothing! I was told we would only be paying $6.50 to go see movies at AMC!! Oh well that changes everything. Looks like it'll be Rainbow and Scotiabank theatres for me!
