    That's probably a good guess.

I don't think you're wrong about Bay St and the poor retail showing, but the Four Seasons should be a good catalyst to give that stretch a boost. There are a number of luxury condos being built and proposed for that quadrant, and being in a five star hotel, I suspect you don't necessarily need...

Fair enough, but you see the point I was going for. My experience has been that virtually every Four Seasons around the world that I've seen has true luxury retail in it. I think for their home base property, in Toronto's luxury retail area, they blew it.

No, it's not a chain from what I understand but it might as well be. It's an equally ridiculous waste of space in my opinion. I honestly don't know the name, but let's put it this way, from what I've heard it's no better than some generic retailer that you would find at any decent hotel. BUCA...

No, it's retail. My feeling is that this space sat vacant for too long and the broker/property manager either got desperate or got too much pressure. Considering there was a mega-luxury brand that was seemingly millimeters away from finalizing a deal not more than a couple of months ago, this...

Sadly no. I don't know the name yet, but we are all in for a disappointing announcement. For the flagship property of the world's most luxurious hotel brand, with two Daniel Bouloud restaurants, and rates that start in the $500's, it's quite the joke, the lease that was signed.

Makes sense, what you're saying. Thanks for clarifying.

Quiet time with respect to what? I suspect summer is when Bloor sees its highest ped counts and sales volumes. I would also think that retailers would want to try to open up prior to Christmas, so summer leasing activity should actually be a bit higher. My personal opinion is that it's not...

Holts is doing just fine. They're expanding their GTA presence with a store at Square One and Yorkdale's is one of the best luxury department stores in NA. Fossil on Bloor? Geez...

    Yorkdale Shopping Centre

It's not standalone in Vancouver - it's part of Leone, but it is considered a shop-in-shop.

Perry's looks to have been leased, but is being divided up into two stores. Any ideas or knowledge as to who's opening up there?

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

It's probably more suited to be a Superdry or something like that.

    Apple Store

Sorry, I should have been more specific - unless they go to mid-market retailers like J Crew, etc, it could be a while before they get leased. I personally hope Bloor doesn't become an outdoor mall with too many J crew-like brands.

    Apple Store

Agreed - although I suspect that several of these locations will remain vacant for at least 6 months to a year given their size. I would imagine it takes quite a bit of time to lease spaces that large, even though there may be several interested retailers. That and Yorkdale has no doubt sucked...

Right, which is why I think retailers see huge potential in Toronto since several of them have multiple stores here. I do think you're right about Yorkdale though being in direct competition with Yorkville. It's not like rents are any cheaper at Yorkdale (in fact they're more expensive in...
