A massive parking lot at a prominent downtown location is the focus of this week's Throwback Thursday. The photo, taken July 15, 2007, shows 300 Front West at John Street in all of its pre-development glory. A hydro substation, a recently built condo, a hotel, and an office complex surround the lot, setting off a Hooters billboard. It all makes for a rather dreary landscape.

In the years since, Tridel took over the property and has built the 49-storey 300 Front West condo. Here we see the project as it looked like a week ago, now nearing completion.

Whether you love the new building or not, in seven short years another downtown urban wasteland has been converted into something making the area an ever more vibrant, liveable part of town.
