Since UrbanToronto's last update six months ago, significant progress has been made on 50 Scollard in Toronto’s Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. Designed for Lanterra Developments by Foster + Partners, and with Arcadis as Architect of Record, this 41-storey mixed-use condominium has grown noticeably but still remains several storeys away from topping off.

In June, 2024, we look west across Davenport Road and over the Stone Church to 50 Scollard's east elevation, now reaching 34 storeys — a leap from the 16 storeys noted in the previous update. The image highlights the tower's first step-back at the 29th floor (one suite here will get a terrace at the north end of the building). The elevation features a concrete wall dominated by the elevator shafts; this narrow building's units virtually all face west.

Looking southeast from Jesse Ketchum Park this month, the building's narrow north elevation has had tan-coloured insulation panels applied to approximately the 21st floor. Towering above, the construction has ascended to the 36th floor, where there will be another step-back before the final five storeys that lead to the mechanical penthouse. Below, precast cladding panels can be seen applied to the podium levels.

From the intersection of Scollard and Bay Streets, this northeast-facing view captures the ongoing cladding activities on the west and south elevations. The precast panels here are installed up 16 storeys high.

Gazing directly upward from Bay Street, the second storey cantilevers over the first. The vertical piers, rising from the ground level, are crafted with concave indentations, creating a recessed area in the centre of each. That second levelis where the first curtain wall window sections have been test-installed. Designed as "Chicago windows" with a wide central pane flanked by two narrower ones, bronze-coloured frames and spandrel panels will add warmth to the exterior as more are applied.

With approximately five storeys remaining before topping out, 50 Scollard is set to stand at a height of 147.62m, supplying 148 luxury residential units to the Yorkville area.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
