With the calendar having flipped to 2024, The Residences at Central Park from Amexon Development Corporation, rings in the new year with the hum of machinery carving out its future foundation. Located at the northwest corner of Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East, and the TTC's Leslie and Oriole GO stations to the south, this ambitious development designed by Core Architects is looking to strike a harmonious blend of urban living and natural escape within Toronto's Bayview Village neighbourhood. With the East Don Parkland as its backyard, the site is a beehive of activity, laying the groundwork for what will become a 12-acre, master-planned community.

UrbanToronto has provided continued coverage of the site, from our drone footage to an overview of the development's progress throughout 2023. The project capped off the year with increased vehicular activity and excavation work.

As of late December, a southward glance captures overcast skies blanketing the area, but a vibrant green telescopic crawler crane extends its boom, with heavy lifting and material handling underway. To its right a yellow hydraulic excavator, used for its earthmoving capabilities, rests for the moment.

Turning to the north showcases the depth of excavation and the site's preparation for the upcoming structural phase. The pit, its shoring walls covered in orange tarp, is deepest — for the time being — to the north where the first phase tower will be built. In the background, the existing office building on the site awaits its modern reskinning, while the trees beyond hint at the adjacent greenery of the Don ravine lands.

An eastward view reveals four yellow and red excavators, their tracks coated in dirt, ready to expand the pit. Just behind the fence, irregularly shaped pieces of concrete debris, likely former anchors for parking lot light poles, blend with the muddy ground conditions of the site. Adjacent to the excavators on the right, we see what appears to be a segment of the lattice structure of the tower crane laying horizontally, along with an orange section of the boom. Tower crane segments are typically transported to the site in parts, signalling the vertical work to come.

Looking forward to the year ahead, The Residences at Central Park is poised for future construction milestones as its journey continues. As the ongoing construction weaves together 1,478 residential units across five buildings, this development promises to be a new eastern gateway to the Bayview Village neighbourhood.

UrbanToronto will continue to follow progress on this development, but in the meantime, you can learn more about it from our Database file, linked below. If you'd like, you can join in on the conversation in the associated Project Forum thread or leave a comment in the space provided on this page.
