Amexon Development Corporation's The Residences at Central Park has been awarded the prestigious IPAX Americas Property Award for "Best Sustainable Residential Development" in Canada. Announced at the 2024 IPAX Real Estate Convention in Los Angeles, the accolade comes as sub-grade construction continues at the Central Park site in Toronto’s Bayview Village neighbourhood.

The award was presented on September 26, 2024, at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live Hotel. "This recognition further solidifies our company's leadership in environmentally focused design and innovation. It's a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability and forward-thinking design," said Ashling Evans, General Manager of Real Estate at Amexon.

The IPAX Americas Awards are globally recognized for honouring achievements across the real estate sector. Each year, over 100 independent experts evaluate thousands of entries from around the world, assessing projects on criteria such as innovation, superior quality, and environmental responsibility.

Located at the northwest corner of Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East, The Residences at Central Park is a 12-acre masterplanned community that will feature five towers ranging from 12 to 31 storeys. Designed by Core Architects, the project draws instruction from the adjacent East Don Parkland, incorporating nature-inspired elements throughout its design. Thousands of native trees and shrubs will be planted across the site, encouraging local biodiversity.

The development is the first large-scale residential project in North America to offer electric vehicle charging stations for every parking space — over 1,500 in total. This forward-thinking initiative places the community at the forefront of eco-conscious design and reflects a significant investment in green technology.

"We are honoured to receive this prestigious recognition from the IPAX Americas Property Awards," Evans added. "Our dedication to sustainable practices and the integration of cutting-edge EV technology has clearly resonated with buyers, and we are thrilled to see this innovation celebrated by the industry."

Central Park's architectural expression showcases leaf-like impressions across the balcony guards, while expansive glass exterior walls provide residents with uninterrupted vistas of the surrounding greenery. Six-foot-deep balconies promote indoor-outdoor living, reinforcing the connection to nature. The community layout emphasizes pedestrian pathways and easy navigation, while public spaces like Central Park Common provides an inviting environment that encourages interaction and community spirit.

Central Park residents will also benefit from over 1,166m² of retail space, including high-end grocers, cafes, and restaurants that open directly onto Central Park Common.

Future phases will introduce The Park Club, a wellness and leisure facility spanning over 5,100m², and featuring amenities such as a spa, gym, saltwater pools, co-working spaces, a bowling alley, and a golf simulator. The development also boasts quick access to public transit, with the Leslie subway station and the soon-to-be relocated Oriole GO station just steps away.

This latest award adds to a growing list of accolades for Amexon’s master-planned community, which recently won the Ontario Home Builders' Association's Project of the Year (People's Choice Award). The development has also been named a finalist for the Building Industry and Land Development Association's Green Builder of the Year and the Ontario Home Builders' Association's Green Building of the Year.
