In a short time, Toronto's Central Waterfront has become a dense area, where Lifetime Developments in partnership with Diamond Corp recently managed to secure the last available building site, and is now launching Q Tower there. A 59-storey condo located on Queens Quay West at Lower Simcoe Street, the Wallman Architects-designed development merges the convenience of urban living with the tranquility of the water's edge. The tower, reaching a height of 197.4m, will house a total of 954 units, blending affordable rental and condominium suites.
One of the unique features of Q Tower is its collaboration with artist Michael Moebius. Known for his distinctive, hyper-realistic portraits of iconic figures blowing bubblegum bubbles, Moebius's art adds a playful touch to the tower's common areas.
The building's amenities, totalling 2,385m², are spread across various floors. On the second floor, residents will be greeted with an array of health and wellness facilities, including a partnership with Freemotions that brings one of the city's most advanced training spaces. This includes state-of-the-art cardio equipment, an outdoor fitness zone, a yoga and stretch studio, and a massage room.
Additionally, a co-working space and a games room, featuring plush décor and more Moebius fun, will provide a blend of productivity and leisure; the games room, for example, is designed to provide a casino-like atmosphere with James Bond as the art's theme.
Third-floor amenities will extend to outdoor spaces, featuring a dining terrace with private dining areas, and an outdoor lounge, ideal for socializing and entertaining. The Q Lounge and a theatre room complement these offerings, providing residents with spaces for relaxation and entertainment amidst impressive city views.
Continuing upwards, the sixth floor will offer a view lounge, another outdoor dining terrace and lounge, a pickleball court, and dedicated areas for children, including a kid’s zone and an outdoor playground. These amenities cater to a diverse range of preferences and lifestyles, intending that every resident finds their own space for relaxation, recreation, and social interaction.
At the ground level, the tower will feature a retail area and a daycare, adding convenience and accessibility for the residents and the surrounding community. These spaces will cater to the day-to-day needs of the residents, aiming to make life the tower a thriving community.
The design entails a total Gross Floor Area (GFA) spanning 59,625m², integrating a 360m² area for commercial use. Below grade, a four-level underground garage will accommodate 131 parking spaces for residents, 57 for visitors, and 130 spaces of paid public parking for the popular area.
In line with modern urban design principles, the tower is set to provide substantial bicycle parking facilities, including 860 resident spots and 96 for visitors, reflecting a commitment to sustainable and active transportation options in the heart of the city.
With Q Tower, Lifetime is striving for a residential and commercial complex that is also a multi-dimensional space designed to enhance the living experience in Toronto's Waterfront. With its carefully curated amenities, artistic collaboration, and prime location, Q Tower is poised to become a significant addition to Toronto's residential and urban landscape.
