A month after Toronto's Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) published their shortlists for the projects that would be competing to take home one of the 2023 BILD Awards, the results are officially in. Recognizing the best of the year in an array of categories, from best new community, to best suite design, to best branding, this year's class of winners were selected by a panel of judges appointed by BILD, and are representative of the high standard of development that keeps the Greater Toronto Area evolving year in and year out.
To offer a summary of the highlights from the 2023 BILD Awards, we have prepared a roundup of some of the notable award winners… but with almost 50 different awards given this year, a trip to BILD's website — linked here — will reveal the full list of winning projects! People's Choice Award: Harbourwalk at Lakeview Village | Tridel
The 19-storey residential development is designed by architects—Alliance and is set to be the anchor building for the exciting Lakeview Village development in Mississauga.
Best New Community (Planned): ClockWork | Mattamy Homes
Now in its second phase, Mattamy's master-planned community in Oakville is coming together neatly, with design work from BNKC.
Best Community (Built): Waterworks | MOD Developments Inc., Woodcliffe Properties
The Waterworks Building Redevelopment is an exceptional demonstration of adaptive reuse, in the heart of Downtown Toronto, intensifying the historic site with residential and community uses, contained within a slick design from Diamond Schmitt Architects
Project of the Year (Low-rise): The Heights of Harmony | Minto Communities GTA
This townhouse community in Northern Oshawa thrives on spacious single family home options designed by RN Design, as well as a wealth of greenspace.
Project of the Yeah (High-rise): Cielo Condos | Collecdev
Currently under construction in the Annex, Cielo Condos will bring a second life to the 19th century Bloor United Church building, while delivering a total of 284 new units within a 29-storey tower.
Best High-rise Building Design: Harbourwalk at Lakeview Village | Tridel
The terraced design of the building is coupled with a grand central courtyard to offer a highly efficient and livable design that works to manage the scale of the 19-storey building.
Home Builder of the Year (Mid/High-rise): The Daniels Corporation
Working actively across the GTA, Daniels' efforts in the redevelopment of Regent Park have earned the developers top marks for the nearly 20 years the project has been active.
Best Suite Design: The Parker | Fitzrovia
The 39-storey tower in Midtown brings a new level of luxury to the rental market, with suite designs from Figure3 adding another dimension to the high end offerings at The Parker.
