Madison Group and Westdale PropertiesNobu Residences Toronto has been on the rise since the project broke ground in 2018. Located in the heart of Toronto's Entertainment District, the pair of 45-storey, Teeple Architects-designed towers have recently reached the 16 and 19 storey marks, while cladding and glazing is now being applied to the exterior of their shared podium levels – including the space which will become the home of the highly anticipated Nobu restaurant.

Our last update on the project in September shared that structural bracing that was holding in place the preserved heritage facades, of two former industrial buildings at 15 and 19 Mercer built circa 1909, and the former Pilkington Glass Factory at 31 Mercer, built in 1938. Now with the new structure completed behind them, the bracing has been completely dismantled.

Sleek glazing now encases most Nobu's podium levels, the ground and uppermost podium levels excepted. Along with the residential and hotel lobbies, the ground and second floors of the up and coming building will feature retail, restaurant, and hotel spaces, with "la piece de resistance" to be Nobu – an approximately 15,000 square foot, two-level restaurant that will include a signature bar lounge, outdoor seating and private dining rooms.

 The as yet unglazed 9th and 10th floors of the podium will house indoor and outdoor amenities including a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a ‘Zen Garden’ outdoor terrace. Residential suites – of which there will be a combined 660 condominium units – will start on the third floor, while atop the west tower will be 36 ultra-luxury Nobu hotel suites.

 While the towers are still rising, they can now be seen from a distance, slowly beginning to make their mark in the Entertainment District skyline. Currently standing 16 and 19 storeys above grade, the towers both have cranes perched atop their uppermost levels, and fly forms in place, waiting for each new level to be poured, then cure, then they can be flown up a floor to be used again.
