In early September we caught up with demolition of an office complex at 300 The East Mall in Etobicoke called the Valhalla Executive Centre. The three mid-rise buildings, built in the late 1970s and located immediately to the northeast of where Bloor Street crosses over Highway 427, are coming down so that a much denser mixed-use complex can rise in their place.

To be called Valhalla Village, KingSett Capital is planning to build 4 new towers on the site, between 10 and 37 storeys tall, most of it to be rental apartments, but with some new office space, retail, community space, and a new park. While the previous buildings held about 23,000m² in GFA, the new BDP Quadrangle-designed buildings will total over 89,000m².

In the 10 weeks since our last report, much more has come down, and the recent operations by Orin Demolition have been dramatic, with clouds of dust being kicked up as concrete comes down.

UrbanToronto Forum contributors Nwalsh and bangkok have both been to the site with cameras and a drone to capture the work in recent days. A water truck has been onsite for some of the work, spraying the concrete to minimize dust when the concrete crumbles. It, or its spray, can be seen in the images below.

Both Nwalsh and bangkok have been busy capturing the action on video too…
