Minto Communities GTA is building upon their growing housing portfolio, launching their latest project with a new 90-acre master-planned community along Harmony Road in North Oshawa’s Kedron neighbourhood. Known as The Heights of Harmony, the first phase of this subdivision offers a collection of competitively priced single-family homes and townhomes in a range of architectural styles, along with the option for 'Net Zero' upgrades that will drastically cut down on greenhouse gas emissions.

The first phase project features a mix of 800 20’ traditional townhomes and 36' and 43’ single family homes, with floor-plans available that range from 1,992 to 3,049 ft² in area, and priced starting in the high $700,000s. With architecture by RN Design, the homes come in a variety of looks, from Modern Farmhouse that blends the area's agricultural history with modern home design, to French Country, Period Revival/Tudor, Craftsman, and Canadiana.

One of the biggest selling features for the project is the option for purchasers to select a 'Net Zero Ready' upgrade option for their homes, building off of the success of this offering in Minto's sister community of Union Village in Markham earlier this spring.

“At Minto Communities GTA, we understand that a home is one of the most important purchases families will make in their lives and that has informed our approach from conception to completion at The Heights of Harmony,” reads a statement by Mike LaPlante, Vice President of Land Development, Minto Communities GTA. “We’re proud to bring more options for families, young couples, and new homebuyers in the Oshawa community at The Heights of Harmony through homes that are both competitively priced and expertly designed with Net Zero Ready upgrade options, while bringing future residents closer to nature through parks, green spaces, and a trail network.”

Net Zero Ready homes are constructed with improved building envelopes, achieved through the use of more efficient windows and increased insulation, as well as improved mechanical equipment and a Zoned HVAC system that allows individual room temperatures to be adjusted for even greater energy savings. The upgrades are capable of reducing a home's emissions by up to 85%, and all of the homes in the community have roofs designed to allow easy installation of solar panels in the future.

“Building upon our history of innovation, it’s really exciting to be introducing Net Zero Ready Home options to the Oshawa community after their fantastic reception in Markham earlier this year,” reads a statement by Carl Pawlowski, Project Manager Sustainability, Minto Communities GTA. “Net Zero homes are a win-win—they’re significantly better for our environment but they’re also better in terms of comfort for homeowners.”

The new influx of housing for the area will be accompanied by a new 28-acre park with sports field and other community amenities, including pathways that link the site to a neighbouring 6km trail system.
