This week's Throwback Thursday shows many changes to the Toronto skyline with a pair of shots captured four years apart. We travel back to June, 2016 for a southwest-facing view from One Park Place in Regent Park. Then, cranes could be seen working away on a few projects, including (L-R) Axiom Condos (just the crane boom visible) The Harbour Plaza Residences, and 88 Scott Street. Just to the right of Harbour Plaza's pair of cranes, a crane had recently been removed from Backstage on The Esplanade as construction continued, while to its right, a derrick and work platform remained atop the L Tower.
Almost four years later, a shot from early July, 2020 shows substantial change. The completed Harbour Plaza towers, along with the since-built 65-storey Ten York Street condo tower have been partially blocked out by the 49-storey south tower at CIBC SQUARE. Backstage and L Tower have completed their drawn-out constructions, while to their right, a new 32-storey office tower has joined the mix at 16 York. In the centre of the frame, 88 Scott Street is now long since completed, while the far right of the image shows the topped-out, 46-storey Yonge & Rich Condominiums with its maze like balcony pattern gradually rising.
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto. In the meantime, you can submit your own Throwback Thursday comparisons in our dedicated Forum thread for your chance to be featured in next week's edition.
