One of Toronto's most popular skyline vantage points can be found at the dead end on the west end of Chester Hill Road. The Chester Hill Lookout offers a picturesque view of the Don Valley Parkway and Prince Edward Viaduct set against a skyline backdrop. While this view has always been popular, just a few short years of urban growth have dramatically altered the view. Back in July of 2015, this vantage point offered a look at under-construction projects including (from let to right) the L Tower, cranes for the Sun Life Financial Tower and Harbour Plaza Residences complex, Pace Condominiums, and the Bay Adelaide Centre’s east tower topped out and almost fully enclosed.
Four years and three months later, all of the projects mentioned above have wrapped up, and the same angle now shows several new additions that have since joined the skyline. New buildings in the 2019 view below include (left to right) CIBC SQUARE, 88 Scott Street, Grid Condos, Dundas Square Gardens, and the Massey Tower.
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto. In the meantime, you can submit your own Throwback Thursday comparisons in our dedicated Forum thread for your chance to be featured in next week's edition.
