We've been keeping a close eye on the early stages of construction on The One by Mizrahi Developments, the tallest building currently under construction not only in Toronto, but all of Canada. Recently, our regular updates have been tracking the complicated below-grade structural work that will help support the 308-metre, Foster + Partners and Core Architects-designed luxury condominium tower at Yonge and Bloor.
As forming of the foundations for the tower's hybrid exoskeleton structural system continues, the latest milestone on the site was the installation of a second tower crane next to the TG2300 Mega crane that was installed back in November. The first signs of the yellow-painted 710 Liebherr crane were spotted last week, with the bulk of the crane assembly being carried out this past weekend.
According to a project insider, the cranes will work in tandem for the first several levels of the building. The larger TG2300 crane will be used to raise the large structural supports needed for the first five levels of the tower due to their load sizes. Once the podium is formed, the final task of the mega crane will be the disassembly and relocation of the 710 Liebherr crane to the top of the podium.
Once the mega crane has assisted in the relocation of the smaller 710 Liebherr crane, the 710 will then be used to disassemble the mega crane. With the mega crane removed, the 710 crane will then climb alongside outside of the tower's south facade, similar to the placement of the cranes at CIBC SQUARE currently rising in the South Core.
