Construction is creating a new Toronto skyline peak at the Ordnance Triangle, a 7.75-acre wedge of land formed by Strachan Avenue to west, the Kitchener rail corridor to the north, and the Lakeshore West rail corridor to the south. The area will soon be populated with the towers of Garrison Point from CityzenDiamond CorpFernbrook Homes, and Greybrook Realty Partners, and Novus at Garrison Point from Bentall Kennedy, all designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects.

Work is furthest along on the 29 and 35-storey condominium towers at Garrison Point. We last checked in on them in December last year when they stood at heights of 18 and 28 storeys. In the months since, the taller tower's 35th floor and mechanical penthouse have taken shape, with the tower's angled roofline now apparent. The shorter tower has risen another three levels, with work currently starting on the 22nd floor.

Cladding installation has also progressed quite a bit since December. A window wall system with dark-tinted glazing and opaque spandrel panels framed in dark aluminum mullions now covers the majority of the 35-storey tower, while these materials stretch as high as the 13th floor for the shorter tower.

The first signs of vertical metal fins that will distinguish the towers’ faceted flanking volumes from the main tower massings are in place, while aluminum panels have begun to form the architectural "frames" that will accentuate the towers' shapes. Balcony guards are still to come: they will considerably change the towers' final appearance, adding a lot of white to the mix.

Beside those towers, construction is also progressing at the southeast corner of Strachan and Ordnance on the podium of Novus from which two rental towers of 25 and 34-storeys will rise. The podium of Novus has space for a new grocery store to serve residents of this nascent neighbourhood and the adjacent Liberty Village and King West areas.
