As part of the ongoing George Baird Lecture series, which was established in 2009 in honour of former Daniels Faculty of Architecture Dean and Professor Emeritus George Baird, Canadian-born architect Jamie Fobert will appear this evening at 230 College Street to present a lecture titled "Working in Architecture".

After studying architecture at the University of Toronto, Jamie relocated to London in 1988, where he worked at David Chipperfield Architects, before founding his own practice 8 years later. In subsequent years, his work has been awarded RIBA Awards, the Manser Medal, and the RIBA and English Heritage ‘Award for a building in an historic context’.

Jamie Fobert Architects has worked on small scale projects including private houses in London and Trinidad, and larger scale works such as the interior design for a new department store located in a historic Venetian palazzo. His firm has also landed major public commissions for cultural organisations such as Tate St Ives, the Charleston Trust and Kettle’s Yard.
