Toronto's growing empty-nester demographic is fueling the demand for condominium-style living, in areas traditionally built out with single family dwellings, like the quiet Oakridge community in Scarborough. Located where Danforth Avenue meets Danforth Road near Warden, the Hi-Rise Group and Spice Danforth Inc.'s Spice Urban Towns will add 116 new units to Oakridge.

Designed by Kohn Partnership Architects Inc., the three-and-a-half-storey development will replace an existing restaurant and banquet facility and its associated surface parking lot, replacing it with a mix of one and two-storey units ranging in size from 749 to 1,012 square feet, starting from the mid $300,000s. Many of the units at Spice Urban Towns will feature walkout patios, balconies, or rooftop terraces.

Residents at Spice Urban Towns will be well connected to transit, just a few minutes by foot to Warden Station on the TTC's Line 2. Danforth GO Station with trains going directly downtown is just a couple kilometres to the west. The nearby neighbourhoods of The Danforth, Leslieville, and The Beach will offer plenty of dining and shopping options, while the many parks and schools found nearby make the are attractive for families.
